He is survived by his wife Melba and three children: daughter Beth Lawson, Newcastle; sons Shawn Brooks and Shane Brooks of OKC; son-in-law, David Lawson; daughter-in-law, Erin Brooks. His much loved grandchildren, Ryley and Laney Lawson, Newcastle, Megan and Jacob Brooks, OKC, Weston Brooks, Bentonville, Arkansas, Taylor and Tanner Brooks of OKC. Preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Annie and Ernest Meeks. Siblings, William (Bill), J.A. (Jay) and Gene Brooks and sister Louise Brooks. He is also survived by two sisters-inlaw, Alice Brooks, Dallas and Geneva Riggs, Pottsboro. Many special nieces and nephews. Graduated from Bells High School in 1948 and served in the U.S. Army, 1950-51 during the Korean Conflict. He joined the Baptist Church as a youth. He was very proud of his seven grandchildren, Weston (Little Man), Ryley (Rye), Megan (Meggie) Taylor (TaTa) Jacob (Big Jake) Tanner (TanMan) and Laney (My Girl). He looked forward to and treasured their time spent with him. He was very proud of each of them. He married Melba Hall of Mulberry, Texas in the Mulberry Methodist Church, February 9, 1963. They have been residents of South Oklahoma City since their marriage. He was born during the depression and learned early in life the value of a dollar and hard work. He was employed in the auto paint and body business for many years. Taught several years at the Foster Estes Vo-Tech School, Adult Education. He is also survived by Melba's family, all of the Bonham, Texas area. John W. Hall and Lucille, Lester Hall and Jo Doris, Kenneth Hall and Erlanna, Jerry Hall and Patsy, Elizabeth and Richard Moore, and their children. He was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Alma Ruth Hall and Melba' s parents, Willie and Loraine Hall, all of Mulberry. The family would like to express deep appreciation to their friends who have been there for them during his struggle with congestive heart failure, especially Mary Henson and her family. Also my son-in-law's parents, Thelma and Howard Lawson of Hulbert, OK. Our appreciation to S. W. Medical Center Staff Dr. Michael Mowdy, Jeff Martens, P. A., Dr. Henry Allen and Dr. Malpani for their excellent care and love shown our family. Funeral services will be held at Saint Andrews United Methodist Church, 2727 S.W. 119th, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at 10: a.m. Tuesday, October 7th with a graveside service at the Mulberry Cemetery, Mulberry, Texas at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzeimer's Association, Oklahoma Chapter, 6465 S.
