All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== :: Havenbrook Funeral Home Obituary Benny Max Bruce Benny Max Bruce, 71, longtime Norman resident, died on September 20, 2005, at his home after a courageous battle with ALS. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, September 22, 2005 at Havenbrook Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 23, 2005, at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman, Oklahoma. Benny was born June 27,1934 in Bristow, Oklahoma to Walter and Julia (Weaver) Bruce. His mother died when he was an infant and he and his sister, Joyce, then moved to Norman and were raised by their grandparents, Lee and Cora Lane. He graduated from Norman High School in 1952 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving two years on the U.S.S. Constitution in Boston. Benny met Donna Lee Capwell in Eureka, CA while serving in the Coast Guard. They were married there on January 9, 1958 and then moved back to Norman where they raised three daughters. Benny was an aircraft mechanic at Tinker Air Force Base for over 30 years; was active in the Sea Bees and was a Viet Nam veteran. After his retirement, he delivered vehicles for the local car dealerships. He enjoyed motorcycle road trips with his friends and visiting with them at the local coffee shops. He enjoyed his family and the many pets he had over the years. Benny was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Joyce Mock; and step-mother, Ethyl Bruce. He is survived by his wife, Donna, of forty-seven years; three daughters and son-in-laws, Debra and Don Harp, Lori and Eddie Piner, and Sandy and Rex Brown, all of Norman; half-brother, Ronnie Bruce of Austin, TX; five nieces; one nephew; and many cousins and friends. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Hospice Quality Care for their assistance and compassion.
