COOPER -- (Tom) Horace C., Jr. The sixth child of Pauline and Horace Cooper was born June 11, 1933 in Drumright, OK, at the Pure Oil Camp where his father retired. In 1957, he moved to Broken Arrow, where his brother, Joe Max was working for Kennard Funeral Service. This is where he met his future wife, Joanna Hamilton. They were married April 30, 1958. To this marriage 2 daughters were born, Debra and Paulie. He and Joanna raised Johnny Posey, her brother. After the marriage, he along with his wife, started helping Joanna's mother at the Broken Arrow Nursing Home. There he built the home from 18 beds to 101 today. Tom grew up in Drumright, graduated with the class of 1953 and received his Nursing Home Administration license from O.U. In the 60's, Tom and 4 other couples built the Girls Softball Diamonds at Central Park. He was a member of the Broken Arrow Round- up Club and a charter lifetime member of the Broken Arrow, F.F.A. alumni. He was a supporter for the B.A. Tigettes, whatever his daughters were involved with, Tom was also a part of the organization. After his daughters went to college, he became involved with antique cars. He was a member of the Route 66 Club, drove his cars from Texas to Missouri, and the Super Chevy Club. He drove all over the United States to their shows and was a top winner. In 1995, he joined Antique Automobile Club of America, he traveled all over the U.S. showing his cars and attending national tours, and had several National Awards. He was also a member of the Tulsa Model A Club. Preceding him in death are his parents, Horace and Pauline Cooper; 1 sister, Estelleta Crosby; 3 brothers, Delmar, John and Wayne. He lost a nephew, Eddie Wayne Crosby, January 9, 2007. He is survived by: his wife of 48 years; 2 daughters, Debra Lee and her husband, Thom of Broken Arrow and Paulie Poormon of Broken Arrow; 3 granddaughters, Stevie Lana and Tomi Kai Woodard and Ricci Taylor Poormon; 1 great- grandson, who's first name is "Cooper" was Tom's pride and joy; 1 brother, Joe Max and wife, Dena, Wagoner, OK; 1 sister, Dorothy Meadows and her husband, Vaughn, Coweta, OK; and a host of nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces and a lot of friends. He was a devoted husband, father, papa and friend. "Papa", was like the name daddy and he carried the name with pride and many called him PaPa Tom. Visitation will be at the home. Service will be 1 p.m., Wednesday, March 14, at Aspen Park Baptist Church. The Rev. David Crump will officiate and interment will follow at Park Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the AACA Library or Museum at 501 W. Governor Rd., P.O.
