George, born in Scranton, PA, April 7, 1919, moved to Bristow, OK, where he graduated from high school. After graduating from college, he enlisted in the 45th Division of the Army, he later joined the 81st Wildcat Division. He married Martha Ann Holbert on November 22, 1942, who preceded him in death on October 1, 1984. While working at Service Pipeline, he attended the University of Tulsa Law School at night and graduated with honors. He later worked in the Trust Department at Bank of Oklahoma and for Big Heart Pipeline. Upon his retirement he joined Coury Properties and was active there until his death. He became active in the Democratic Party and was elected Secretary/Treasurer of the Democratic Central Committee and was later elected as the Tulsa City Chairman. M.G. was very active in the Knights of Columbus, he was a past Grand Deputy and District Master. He was elected as the Oklahoma State Deputy, the States highest position. While serving as the State Deputy he created the Knights of Columbus Foundation. The Foundation established and built a living center for the adult mentally challenged, known as "Center of Family Love". M.G. was remarried to Joan Grant on February 11, 1987, who preceded him in death on September 24, 2002. M.G. and Martha had 8 children and were founding life long members of St. Pius IV Catholic Church. He is survived by: his children, Mal and Vicky Coury, Jim and Susan Stowe, J.J. and Nancy Lambros, Stephen and Susan Coury, David and Mary Mondloch, Carolyn Carroll, Paul Coury and Ryan and Annette Moore; 13 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and 2 brothers, Victor Coury and Phillip Coury. Rosary 7 p.m., Friday, January 5, 2007 at Fitzgerald Southwood Colonial Chapel and Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m., Saturday, January 6, at St. Pius X Church.
