Memorial Service: 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, at First Baptist Church of Arlington. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, please send memorial contributions to the Banda Aceh Tsunami Disaster Relief Fund through First Baptist Church, Arlington, 300 S. Center, Arlington 76010. William Earnest Corwin "Bill" was born in Warren Center, Pa., on Aug. 5, 1932, to Donald Hugh Corwin and Mary Catherine Denton. When he was 3 years old, his parents and little sister, Pauline, moved to Oklahoma, where his dad pastored churches for half a century. Bill graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University and married Elizabeth Hudman in 1954. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Mounds, Okla., where he became pastor of First Baptist Church. Bill graduated from Southwestern Seminary in Fort Worth and became the pastor of Hillcrest Park Baptist Church in Arlington, serving there from 1962- 1967. In 1967, Bill and Liz were appointed as missionaries through the Foreign Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. They retired in 1998 after serving 31 years in Indonesia and Singapore. Bill and Liz recently returned to Banda Aceh, Indonesia, as volunteers to assist the people they loved so dearly to recover from the devastating tsunami which occurred in December 2004. Bill's passion was preaching and teaching the Bible, planting churches, sharing his faith and discipling pastors. He also had a great passion for his family, including his mission family. He loved playing golf, collecting clocks, researching history and watching the History Channel, reading Louis L'Amour novels and listening to people tell their life stories. He enjoyed teaching citizenship in International Friends and meeting weekly with a small group of men he loved dearly, the "Cracker Barrel Gang." He was also very active in his church, First Baptist Church, Arlington. Survivors: Wife of 52 years, Elizabeth "Liz"; children, Scott and his wife, Laurie of Grapevine, Kerri Record of Boulder, Colo., and Kelly Prindle and husband, Bruce of Midlothian; and grandchildren, Katie Corwin, Taylor Record, David Prindle and Brady Prindle.
