England, Sr., age 90, passed away March 31, 2010, at his home in Gold Hill, Ore. He was born March 29, 1920, in Kellyville, Okla. Jay served in the United States Marine Corp from 1938 to 1953, and was a veteran of World War II. On June 14, 1948, he married Frances Butler. They moved to Gold Hill in 1960, where he served as president of the Gold Hill Youth Club, and had a popular restaurant, Jay's Pad. He is survived by his sons, Danny and Jay; daughters, Sharon and Karen; 20 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances, in March of 1999; and son, Bobby, in 2009. He took great pride in his Cherokee Indian heritage and being a Marine veteran. Love always ran deep in his heart for his children and grandchildren. Jay loved life and people and had many friends. Especially important to him were those at Patti's Kitchen in Gold Hill. He was a special kind of man, kind and loving, compassionate and accepting of others. Everyone who knew him will miss his mischievous smile and quick wit. From the red clay of Oklahoma, to the cool water of Gold Hill, and now the ever-after; it was quite a journey, well done. A memorial service will be held Monday, April 5, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. at Conger Morris, 800 S. Front St., Central Point.
