Joe Grimes

Joe Grimes, 86, of Amarillo died Thursday, Sept. 18, 2003.

Memorial services will be announced at a later date. Cremation and
arrangements are by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.

Mr. Grimes was born and raised in Creek County, Okla., and graduated from
Bristow High School in Bristow, Okla. He was also a 1941 graduate of the
University of Oklahoma.

He was a naval aviator in World War II and served two tours in the South
Pacific. He married Nancy Slavin in 1949 in Kansas City, Mo. He moved to
Amarillo in 1964 and had owned and operated Culligan of Amarillo ever
since. He was still active with the company at the time of his death.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Ava McMurray, Josephine Buntz
and Lura Amelon.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Maureen Geiger of Amarillo and
Virginia Kinzer of Burke, Va.; four sons, Tom Grimes, Andy Grimes and
Dicky Grimes, all of Amarillo, and Paul Grimes of Katy; a sister, Izetta
Grimes of Cushing, Okla.; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.
