All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Walker, Odell 1915 - 2005 Odell Walker, 89, passed away Monday, May 30, 2005, in Granbury. Funeral: 4 p.m. Wednesday at Acton United Methodist Church in Acton. Burial: Acton Cemetery. Memorials: Acton United Methodist Church or Dalhart First Christian Church. Mr. Walker was born Aug. 1, 1915, in Sapulpa, Okla. He married Oneita Frashier on March 22, 1936, in Panhandle. Mr. Walker owned and operated Dalhart Funeral Home for 31 years. He served as mayor of Dalhart, president of the Chamber of Commerce, president of the Rotary Club and had been selected Outstanding Citizen of the Year in Dalhart. Odell coached high school in 1944-1945. He was a member of the Toast Master Club and First Christian Church, where he served as an elder for 20 years and taught Sunday school for over 20 years. Odell belonged to Dalhart Country Club and helped to rebuild the golf course. In 1974, the Walkers moved to de Cordova Bend Estates near Granbury. Odell was an avid golfer and loved the game. He also worked part time for Wiley Funeral Home for over 10 years. Odell was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one brother. Survivors: Wife of 69 years, Nita Walker of Granbury; sons and daughters- in-law, Barry and Stella Walker of Dalhart and Dr. Guy and Diane Walker of Fredericktown, Mo.; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many friends.
