He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Juanita Ruth, of the home; son, Joseph A. and his wife Ava of Oklahoma City; daughter, Anita Archer and husband, Bill of Mesa, AZ; grandsons, Jonathan and Daniel Archer; granddaughters, Jennifer Miller and Elizabeth Warren; great grand- daughter Danielle Miller; two brothers, Lee Roy Young of Drumright, OK, Ret. Col. Raymond Young of Greencastle, PA; sister, Mary Rush of Madill, OK; and he was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Hoyt A. Young; sister, Maxine Gardner and granddaughter, Beth Ann Archer. Al was born on November 19, 1920, to Ephraim and Florence Young, in Newby, OK. He graduated from Bristow High School where he was president of the FFA for the state of Oklahoma. He graduated from Bristow Junior College, and attended Oklahoma A & M, where he majored in Agriculture Education. He served in the Navy during WWII as a primary and advanced flight instructor, as well as a submarine patrol bomber pilot, receiving an honorable discharge as Lieutenant. He spent most of his life in Oklahoma City as a self-employed stone mason contractor, and co-owner of Richburg Stone Company. He was a charter member and former elder of North Side Christian Church. His memorial service will be held Saturday, December 21, at 10:00 a.m. at North Side Christian Church, followed by interment at Grace Lawn Cemetery, Edmond.
