All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Shamrock Cemetery--Shamrock OK Cushing Daily Citizen February 15, 2007 06:56 pm Bobby Rex Shelton Graveside funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday Feb. 17, 2007 in the Shamrock Cemetery for Drumright resident Bob Shelton. Pastor Roger White of the Shamrock First Baptist Church will officiate with Douglas Rodebush, Josh Rodebush, Gary Lyons, William Amos, Rex Shelton, and Daniel Shelton serving as casket bearers. Ben Massey will serve as honorary bearer. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Michael's Funeral Home of Drumright. Bobby Rex Shelton was born in Mannford, Okla. on Oct. 10, 1930 to Dillard Shelton and Ethel May (Pennington) Shelton. He passed from this life on Feb. 13, 2007 at his residence at the age of 76 years 4 months and 4 days. He grew up around the Sapulpa area and in 1949 he joined the United States Army. On Aug. 9, 1952 he married Artie Mae Glimp in Stillwater and they had three children; Kurt, Russell and Joe Bob. After his discharge from the Army they moved to Enid, where he worked for Pittsburg Glass. In 1974 they moved to the home place outside of Drumright and remained there the rest of their lives. He worked in the oil fields for Roy G. Oil Company, raised cattle and farmed. He loved driving his tractor, feeding and caring for the livestock, playing with his grandchildren, playing dominos and attending events at the Shamrock Senior Citizens Center. He was very devoted to his family and children and was active with his children in Boy Scouts, FFA and many other activities. His favorite hobbies were making knives, walking canes and lots of other woodworking. He was a very joking, kind, forgiving man and touched the hearts of whom ever he came in contact with. All who knew him will miss him. He was preceded in death by his mother in 1949, his father in 1961,his wife, Artie Mae on Nov. 24, 2006, one son, Joe Bob Shelton in 1962, two brothers; Raymond Shelton in 2000, Dempsey Shelton in 1995 and one sister, Opal Phillippe in 1997. His remaining family include his two sons; Kurt and wife Mary Shelton of Drumright and Russell Shelton of Drumright, grandchildren; Crystal Massey, Rex Shelton, Travis Shelton, Sandy Shelton, Thomas Shelton, Christian Shelton, Bobbi Jo Shelton, Thomas Lewis, Daniel Shelton, Reva Shelton, Frances Lewis, thirteen great grandchildren, two brothers; Marvin Shelton of Arkansas, Melvin Shelton of Perkins, two sisters; Sue Ann of Kansas and Brenda Craine of Cushing and other relatives and loving friends. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Creek County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/creek/creek.htm
