Davis, 91 life long Custer County resident will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2008 in the First Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Shane Hall, Dr. Dale W. Davis and Jeffery Edwards Davis. Burial will conclude in the Arapaho Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Verna Marie Ommen Davis was born August 4, 1916 to Heniz and Marie (Trost) Ommen in Custer County between Butler and Leedey, Oklahoma and she passed away early Sunday morning, July 20, 2008 in the Integris Clinton Regional Hospital. Verna was raised in the Butler-Leedey area and attended school at Solid Rock. She married Waverly Davis September 23, 1933 in Butler. They purchased a farm near Butler in 1940 and they raised Cattle, wheat and cotton. She workeed side by side with her husband on the farm as well as caring for their five children. The Davis's moved to Clinton in 1969 and Mr. Davis continued to farm the land in Butler. After 70 years of marriage Mr. Davis preceded her in death in December 2003. She was also preceded in death by a son, Loraine Eugene Davis, a grandson, Alan Davis and a sister, Gladys Kauk and four Brothers, Oscar Ommen; Elmer Ommen; Theodore "Ted" Ommen and Herbert "Happy" Ommen. She wass faithful and active member of the First Baptist Church, she loved to travel abroad with her husband, she enjoyed sewing, cooking, reading and the passion of her life were her children and grandchildren. She is survived by two sons Dale Davis and his wife, Joan, Nacogdoches, Texas; Ronald Davis and his wife, Mona, Denon, TX, and two daughters, Patricia Kelley and husband Jack, Clinton and Sylvia Conant and husband, Michael and a daughter-in-law Mary Inez Davis- Cornelius, Midwest City. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Pam, Scott, Marcia, Kathy, Lori, Brian, Debra, Jeffrery, Melissa, Eve and Jason and eight great grandchildren, Stephanie, Bridget, Clay, Audrey, Rachel, Jodan, Ella Rose and Bebe and Jack Davis.
