WILSON PASSED AWAY HERE LAST SATURDAY NIGHT Mrs. James E. WILSON, who was brought to Thomas hospital a few days ago in a critical condition from Custer City, passed away Saturday night, September 24. The following obituary was read at the funeral Sunday afternoon, which was held at the Thomas community building, conducted by the Rev. W. S. Dearing, this city. Obituary "Alice Hazel GRIMES was born February 15, 1898. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis GRIMES, who live 6 miles southwest of Thomas. "She departed this life at the Thomas hospital Sept. 24, 1927, at the age of 27 years, 7 months and 9 days. "She was converted at the age of fourteen and became a member of the M.E. church, South, at Bethel. "She was married to James E. WILSON in 1919 at Wichita, Kansas, and to this union was born one daughter, Leona Mae, who departed this life in infancy. "She leaves to mourn her departure her husband, James E. WILSON of Custer City; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis GRIMES of Custer City; five sisters, Mrs. C. F. BERRONG, Mrs. L. R. HOFFMAN, Mrs. O. C. BARR, Mrs. T. E. CONLEY, all of Custer City and Mrs. G. H. GARNER of Thomas. Three brothers, Mr. C. B. GRIMES, residence unknown; Mr. C. C. GRIMES, Roanoke, Va., and Mr. M. L. GRIMES of Thomas. Other relatives and friends are too numerous to mention. "She lived a consistent Christian life, was a loving and devoted wife and true to all principles of right and love. "She was loved by all who knew her and in her former home there will be a missing voice of love that will cause many sad days for her husband." One of the largest crowds attended the sad obsequy that has ever assembled at a funeral in Thomas. The remains were interred in Mound Valley cemetery. This obituary is from a newspaper clipping. The paper is not known, as the name and date are partially clipped off. It appears that "Thomas" is in the newspaper name, and "Okla., Thurs., September" is also visible.
