Box 237 Checotah, Ok 74426 ***************************************************************************************** Published October 24, 2007 Muskogee Phoenix Bonnie (Goodall) Howerton 1933 - 2007 Bonnie Olivia Howerton, 74, of Muskogee died Monday morning, October 22, 2007 at Muskogee Regional Medical Hospital. Mrs. Howerton was born April 14, 1933 in Butler, Oklahoma, the daughter of Jim and Velma (Smith) Goodall. Bonnie moved with her family to Haskell at an early age where she was raised. Bonnie graduated from Haskell High School with the Class of 1952. On November 1, 1952 she married Raymond Howerton in Haskell. Mrs. Howerton began a career in the food supply business in the mid 1950’s. She took a position with Haskell Foods, a canner of fruit drinks. She worked in the administrative offices and was mostly responsible for bookkeeping. The company was later purchased by Whitlock Packaging and moved to Fort Gibson. Bonnie continued employment with the company through the 1990’s and retired after over 35 years of dedicated service. Bonnie was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church. She grew up as a member of First United Methodist Church in Haskell. In 2004 she transferred her membership to St. Paul United Methodist Church where she remained active. In addition to her family, worship and work her greatest love was square dancing. She and Raymond were active in the Muskogee Twirlers and she had been a member for over 30 years. She also enjoyed the fellowship and competition of dominoes. Mrs. Howerton was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jerry Goodall and grandson, Joshua Brower. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Raymond Howerton of the home; one daughter, Regina Brower and husband Paul of Abilene, TX; one son, Sam Howerton and wife Kim of Liberty Mounds, OK; three grandchildren, Jason Brower and wife Kristen of Houston, TX, Matt Brower and wife Rachel of Austin, TX, Samantha Jackson and husband Jacob of Liberty Mounds, OK; two great grandchildren, Lilly Brower of Houston and Finley Brower of Austin; three sisters, Mary Ellen Osburn and husband Wayne of Haskell, Fernon Easley and husband Jim of Tulsa and Dorothy Perry and husband Howard of Muskogee; two sisters-in-law, Nina McCabe of Haskell and Geneva Martin of Tulsa; two brothers-in-law, Lloyd Howerton and wife Joan of Tuscon, AZ and Alvin Howerton and wife Stephanie of Tulsa and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral Services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, October 25, 2007 at St. Paul United Methodist Church with Rev. Lee Griffin officiating. Interment will follow in Haskell City Cemetery. Pallbearers are Alfred Flusche, Jim Pierett, Eldon Stone, Chuck Jordan, Chuck Boyd and Herman Ray. Friends may wish to remember Mrs. Howerton by making memorials to St. Paul United Methodist Church Building Renovation Fund, 2130 West Okmulgee, Muskogee, OK 74401. Funeral services arrangements are under the direction of Foster-Petering Funeral Home.
