He was born August 26, 1903 at Thomas, Oklahoma, he was the son of Charles and Fronia Houghland. He came to Hammon at an early age, he lived here for many years. He became a member of The First Mewthodist Church of Hammon where he was quite young and was a 32nd degree Mason. He was married to Lillie Belle Boulware November 30, 1929 at Cheyenne, Oklahoma. They were rfesidents of the Hammon area for many years. They later lived in Denison and Dallas, Texas. He retired from the M K & T Railroad in Dallas in 1964 and moved to his farm at Brentwood, Arkansas. He is survived by his wife, Lillie Belle of the home; one son, Charles C ., of Brentwood, Arkansas; two daughters, Mrs. Patricia Wiggins of Brentwood and Mrs. Aneata Chandler of Topeka, Kansas; two half-brothers, Harold Davis of Hammoin and Clarence Davis of Taylor, Arizona; seven half-sisters, Mrs. Birfdie Jones of Soccorro, New Mexico; Mrs. Estiline Hammons of Hammon; Mrs. Ernestine Leary, Mrs. Rena Stringfellow and Mrs. Beulah Watkins all of Bakersfield, Cazlifornia; Mrs. Lula McDonald of San Leandro, California and Mrs. Carey Alberts of Arlington, Virginia, six grandchildren and one great grandchild, and a host of other relatives and friends. Services were held in the Chapel of the Nelson Funeral home, December 14, in Fayetteville, Arkansas, with interment in the Brentwood Cemetery, with the Masonic Lodge in charge.
