Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, 2010 in the Elmwood Cemetery with Ray Don Jackson officiating. Burial will follow with the Billings Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Evelyn Nadene (Walton) Jones was born on October 8, 1932 in Moorewood, Oklahoma to Benjamin Orval and Zona Gale (Barten) Walton. Evelyn was reared in Leedey and attended all grades there and graduated from Leedey High School in 1950. After graduation she attended business college in Oklahoma City. Evelyn was united in marriage to Charles W. "Charlie" Jones on October 20, 1953 in Clovis, New Mexico. To this union they were blessed with two children, Penny and Kenny. They made their first home in Ardmore before moving to Woodward on Thanksgiving Day in 1957. Evelyn worked for the Woodward Savings and Loan and GAB Insurance before going to work for the Outhier Insurance Agency on March 20, 1965. She retired from working full time in March of 1985, but continued working part time for Mr. Outhier until his death. Charlie preceded her in death on June 14, 2000. Because of her health, Evelyn moved into the Cornerstone Residential Care in August of 2003 where she has lived since that time. Evelyn was a member of the Church of Christ. She was very involved in numerous activities with her husband Charlie and they loved attending their grandchildren's ballgames and activities. After her retirement, she crocheted and enjoyed being the best Grandma ever to her grandchildren. She is survived by one son Kenny Jones and wife Bess of Woodward; one daughter Penny Stahlman and husband Steve of Fargo; three grandchildren, Adam Jones of Seattle, Washington, Stephanie Mingus and husband Preston of Yukon, Talon Stahlman and wife Kars of Shattuck; five great-grandchildren, Loby, Savanah and Addison Mingus, Kadyn and Tatym SAtahlman; one sister Beverly Rushbrook of Edmong, sisters-in-law, Billie Ruth Jones of Cheyenne and Euline Smith of Ada; brother-in-law, Frank Whiteley and wife Lavena of Yukon; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Besides her husband Charlie, Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson Aaron Jones on May 27, 1986, brothers-in-law, Harvey Rushbrook, Louis Jones, J.B. Smith, sister-in-law, Lillian Whiteley; and a special aunt and uncle Herman and Lorene Hogg. Memorials contributions may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, Alzheimer's Diabetes, or Cancer Research with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
