All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Duffield Cemetery--Jay OK The Grove Daily Sun 22 Oct 2005 GENE LEONARD COWGILL 1922-2005 GROVE, Okla. - Gene Leonard Cowgill of Grove went to be with the Lord Sunday October 16, 2005 at the Grove Nursing Center in Grove at the age of 83. Gene was born August 23, 1922 to Ralph and Mabel (Dublin) Cowgill at Vallejo, Ca. He graduated from Vallejo High School. He played semi- professional tennis even played with Jacky Robinson in Pasadena, Ca. and also he played baseball. Gene served in the United States Air Force during WW II as a radio man. He worked as a milk man delivering milk to homes, and also worked in real estate. He married Leta Fay Graham August 23, 1943 in Hobbs, New Mexico. She preceded him in death in 1996. Gene then married Anita Hughes March 1, 1998 in Grove. He was also preceded in death by his parents, and one brother Lyle Cowgill. Gene loved God, his family, and his country with all his heart. Survivors include his wife Anita Cowgill of Grove. Two daughters: Geleta Mayberry and husband Don of Gentry, Ar. Sandra Sandling and husband Leonard of Glendale, Az. One brother: Loren Cowgill of Monterey, Ca. One sister: Virginia Bower of Monrovia, Ca. Two step-children: Clifford Hughes of Miami, Ok. and Carla Summerfield of Grove. Five grandchildren: Bryan Sandling, Michelle Crooks, Jennifer Pendola, Scott Mayberry, and Christine Bibe. Four step- grandchildren: Kaitlin Rutherford, Susie Summerfiled, Kylee Summerfield, and Kandace Hughes. Six great grandchildren. Services will be 10:00 am Wednesday October 19, 2005 at the Jay Assembly of God Church, Jay, Ok. Interment will be at the Duffield Cemetery with the Grove Ritual Team Conducting Military Honors.
