Mr. Ford, 75, of Central Point, died Saturday (July 28, 2001) at Rogue Valley Medical Center. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, c/o Order of the Eastern Star Nevita Chapter No. 93, 3365 Snowy Butte Lane, Central Point, OR 97502. He was born June 2, 1926, in Kansas, Okla., a son of Floyd and Eliza (Cochran) Ford. On Feb. 8, 1974, in Reno, Nev., he married Helen Beverly Forseth, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley 15 years ago from Pinole, Calif. Mr. Ford was a switchman with Southern Pacific Railroad, retiring after 37 years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater. He was captured during the Battle of the Bulge and later returned to active service. He was awarded a Bronze Star and the Croix de Guerre, a French military decoration for gallant action in war. Mr. Ford was a member of the Jackson County Horsemen, Boston Terrier Club of America, Bear Creek Greenway Equestrian Association, Boston Terrier Club of Portland, and the First Baptist Church in Central Point.
