All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ==================================================================== Surnames: FRANKENSTEIN, FEHRING Joplin Globe 3 Dec 1948 Sergeant Frankenstein's body Being Returned The body of Sergeant Robert J Frankenstein, Joplin paratrooper & posthumous winner of the Bronze Star, who was killed in Belgium 7 January 1945, will be returned here at 12.30 O'clock Tuesday afternoon for funeral services. The body will be met at the Union Station by members of the American War Dads, high school ROTC, and National Guard. Members of the service organizations will escort the body to the Parker-Hunsaker Mortuary. Sergeant Frankenstein was 28 years old at the time of his death. He was a native of Vinita Oklahoma and attended Joplin High School, from which he was graduated in 1942. He entered the service in February 1943 and was sent to Camp Roberts, California. Sergeant Frankenstein went overseas on Sept 30 1944. Surviving are his widow Mrs Gertrude Frankenstein of Wausau, Wisconsin; his mother, Mrs. Claudin Fehring, 1709 Sergeant Ave (Joplin); a sister, Mrs. Ray Hadley of Oakland; a brother, James E Frankenstein, 203 Pearl Ave; a stepbrother, Robert Fehring, and 2 stepsisters, Ruth Ann and Betty Fehring, and his stepfather, Henry R Fehring. --------->Dates may not be accurate -------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Delaware County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/delaware/delaware.html
