She was 81. Georgia was born December 7, 1925 in Kenwood, Okla. to George and Nancy Hogner. She was the youngest of eight children. She attended Seneca Indian School with her sisters during her elementary years, and then graduated from Jay High School in 1944. Her first job was at the Jay Courthouse. She married John Jumper on January 18, 1945 and worked in the home as both a mother to her daughters Pam and Deb and was a devoted minister’s wife to John for 27 years. She assisted him fully in his mission work that was conducted throughout the state of Oklahoma. After their divorce, she worked again as a court employee for the Oklahoma City Courthouse. She met Fred Holland, of Chouteau, Okla. in the summer of 1976 and married him on September 3, 1976. For several years, she worked in Head Start in Mayes County and enjoyed creating and writing stories for the children. Following that, she worked as the Emergency Room Admissions Clerk at Grand Valley Hospital in Pryor Okla. for many years. She was a volunteer for community voting enrollment and always participated the process of signing people in at the polls to vote. She thought it was very important for women and for American Indians to register and to vote. She read her daily Bible readings every morning; her Bible was worn with use and kept a secure record of family history. She was a great supporter of Billy Graham and his ministries and contributed to his mission on a regular basis. Georgia was a very caring person and a good neighbor and friend. Friends and family describe her as “always willing to help out someone in need.” She loved music, especially gospel music, and enjoyed “singing along” whenever she could. Georgia was a member of the Pocahontas Club in Claremore, Okla. and enjoyed sharing these activities with her friends. She was very proud of being half Cherokee and would often speak many words in Cherokee and even sing some gospel songs in the Cherokee language. She instilled this cultural pride in her daughters as well. She enjoyed traveling and was always ready to go “at the drop of a hat.” She also enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking and was one the best “pie makers” around. Georgia was preceded in death by: her husband, Fred Holland; her father, George Hogner; her mother Nancy Hogner; her brothers Grover, John and Floyd; sisters Irene and Inez; and nephews David Duncan and Dennis Starr.
