Gibson National Cemetery--Ft Gibson OK Henson, Rubye Jo Rubye Jo Henson, 91, of Grove, OK formerly of Shawnee, OK died Saturday, February 22, 2003 at a Grove, OK Nursing Center. Services will be Wednesday, February 26, 2003 at 10:00 AM at The First Baptist Church, McLoud, OK with Rev. Larry Sparks officiation. Burial will be at Ft. Gibson National Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Service. Rubye Jo Henson was born June 1, 1911 on an Indian lease north of McLoud, OK to Leslie and Appie Stevens. She graduated from McLoud High School in 1929 and attended East Central Teachers College in Ada and acquired a lifetime teaching certificate. She taught school in McLoud for 3 years, 1 year at Kickapoo School Northeast of McCloud and 1 year in Alabama. She retired from Civil Service in 1970 after 22 years at Tinker AFB. She was married to William J. Henson who preceded her in death in 1948. Rubye Jo Henson was a member of First Baptist Church of McLoud since 1924, Order of Eastern Star, receiving a 50 year pin, American Legion Auxilliary, AARP and the only member from McLoud of the Gold Star Wives. Rubye's husband William was career Army for over 22 years, which required extensive traveling for the family. After retirement she continued to travel for a number of years. She is preceded in death by her husband in 1948, father in 1924, mother in 1968, brothers: Charles A. Stevens in 1960, Clail J. Stevens in 1961 and Mason Stevens in 1988, and by a sister Lily Reed in 1992. She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Jerry L. and Bobbie Henson, Disney, OK, 2 grandchildren: Tonda Shelton, Norman, OK and Eric J. Henson, Coconut Creek, FL, several nieces and nephews.
