KAFKA SR. 1929-2005 GROVE, Okla. -- Raymond Lee Kafka Sr., 75, died Thursday, April 14 at his home in Grove. Kafka was born November 30, 1929 in Sterling, Kansas to Edward and Bessie (Thular) Kafka. He married Margaret Wilson on October 12, 1981 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was self-employed as a carpenter. He was a member of Bernice Baptist Church, a lifetime member of the Moose Lodge, and a member of the Lions Club, where he served as president for three terms. Kafka enjoyed working with the Lions Club, Boys Ranch in Perkins, Oklahoma. He loved to fish, watch horse races, work in his strawberry beds, and listen to polka music. His grandchildren brought him great joy. Survivors include his wife Margaret of Grove; two sons, Raymond L. Kafka Jr. of Jay, and Randolph L. Kafka and wife Cecilia of Wellington, Kansas; one daughter, Suzzan L. Barnes and husband Lloyd Ray of Jay; one step- daughter, Debbie Ruehlen and husband Doug of Enumclaw, Washington; one step-son, Lewis Meador, of Carl Junction, Missouri; two brothers, Edward Kafka and wife Pat of Hutchinson, Kansas, and Vernon Kafka and wife Joyce of Wichita, Kansas; fifteen grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Betty Conrad. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 19 at Worley- Luginbuel Chapel with Rev. Butch Miller officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Oklahoma Lions Boys Ranch, P.O. Box 400, Perkins, Oklahoma 74059.
