All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Cremated Thomas FH--Welch OK Vinita (Ok) Daily Journal, May 19, 1987 McGhee Ambrose "Wado" McGhee, 66, died Saturday at his home at Rt. 2, Welch, after he suffered a heart attack. Mr. McGhee was born Dec. 27, 1920 near Grove in Delaware County. His parents were the late Dennis and Ida (Brown) McGhee. He retired from the Kansas City, Mo Railroad Terminal in January 1986. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean conflict. Mr. McGhee ran a dairy in Welch from 1950- 1955 before moving to Kansas City to work at the railroad terminal. He moved to Grove from Kansas City following his retirement. In November 1986 he returned to the Welch area. he attended the First Assembly of God Church in Chetopa, Kan. In 1939 he married Golda Cates in Chelsea, Okla. Survivors include his wife, Golda, of the home at Re. 2, Welch; one son, Richard McGhee, Manhattan, Kan.; one daughter, Bonnie Sue Terry, Grove; three sisters, Bonnie Reed, LIberty, Mo.; Blanche Smith and Faye Everly, both of Kansas City, Mo. Other survivors include two brothers, Robert McGhee, Jay; and J. W. McGhee, Welch; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today at the Thomas Funeral Home Chapel in Welch. Rev. Ron Frazier officiated.
