Zwiegel, 84, the son of Frank J. and Esther R. Saller Zwiegel, was born Aug. 5, 1921 in Kansas City, Mo. and died March 9, 2006 at Integris Grove General Hospital, Grove, Okla. Mr. Zwiegel was united in marriage to Miriam J. Schafer in 1942 in Savannah, Mo. Mr. Zwiegel was employed as a mechanical estimator in plumbing, heating and air conditioning. He was a member of Kansas City Local # 8 and was also an instructor of drafting and blue print reading at the Plumbers and Pipefitters Apprenticeship Center in Kansas City, Mo. Mr. Zwiegel was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Grove, where he served in the church choir. He was a United States Navy veteran serving during WW II. He was a volunteer at the Nevada Middle School in their Art Department helping do stained glass. Survivors include: his wife Miriam of the home; three sons, Kenneth Zwiegel and his wife Donna of Papillian, Neb., William Zwiegel and his wife Patti of Roland Park, Kan. and Jon Zwiegel and his wife Janice of Kearney, Mo.; a daughter, Michelle Batilla of San Antonio, Texas; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mr. Zwiegel was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Dunn. Funeral services were held on Sunday, March 12, at 4 p.m., at the First United Methodist Church in Grove, with Rev. Randall Hamill officiating. Interment was held on Monday, March 13, at 2 p.m., at Johnson County Memorial Cemetery, 11200 Metcalf St., Overland Park, Kan.
