Lawrence Bison - There will be no service for Albert J. Lawrence, 66. Arrangements are by Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home, Hennessey. he was born Feb. 2, 1936, in Webbers Falls and died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2002, at Integris Bass Baptist Health Center, Enid. Leon S. Tinney Cleo Springs - A graveside service for Leon Stanley Tinney, 79, will be 11 a.m. thursday in Laurel Land Memorial Park, Fort Worth, Texas. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home, Helena. He was born Oct. 16, 1922, in Floydada, Texas, to John Sharp and Lily J. Dunavant Tinney and died Friday, Aug. 9, 2002, at Great Plains Care Center, Helena. He joined the Army Air Corps on Jan. 2, 1942, and served during World War II. He was discharged on May 23, 1945. In 1947, he joined the Marine Corps on Jan. 2, 1942, and served during World War II. he was discharged on May 23, 1945. In 1947, he joined the Marine Corps, serving in active duty until 1971. He was transferred intot he Marine Corps Reserves. He received numerous medals during the Korea Conflict and Vietnam War. He was discharged in 1974. Surviving are one sister, Anita J. Hale of Cleo Springs; and one brother, Billy sr. of Fort Woth. He was preceded in death by one sister and one brother. Leonard R. Adams Waukomis - The funeral for Leonard R. Adams, 82, will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Waukomis First Baptist Church. The Rev. Danny Marney will officiate. Burial will be in Waukomis Cemetery. Arrangements are by Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. He was born Feb. 21, 1920, in Tracy, Calif, to James Randolph and Theodocia White Adams and died Sunday, Aug. 11, 2002, at his home. He graduated from high school in Sonora, Calif., and had held various jobs welding in shipyards at Stockton, Calif. On Oct. 31, 1993, he married Bertha Williams in Enid. He was an active member of Waukomis First Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Bertha of the home; 10 children, Nicki Smith of Oklahoma City, Lynda Schrank of Sioux Falls, S. D., Joe Casey of Cloudy, Jan Odell, Sherryl Ann Adams, both of Oklahoma City, Dallas Griggs of Enid, Joseph Adams of Nowata, Ruby Tolle of Waukomis, Lee Adams of Del City and Davi Adams of Kingfisher; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruby Busby Adams, and one son. Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Hospice Circle of Love. Helen J. Beckham The funeral for Helen Juanita Beckham, 86, will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Davis Park Christian Church. The Rev's Alan Seibel and Ernest Leierer will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Garden Chapel. Arrangements are by Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. Visitation with family will be 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. She was born in Kansas City, MO., to W. L. and Minnie Blanchard Bushnell and died Saturday, Aug. 10, 2002, at Enid Senior Care. She moved to Cherokee at an early age with family, living there from 1920 to 1927. She moved to Enid at age 11 and became a member of Davis Park Christian Church, where she was a member for more than 70 years. She graduated from Enid High School in 1934. On Dec. 30, 1933, she married Eddie Beckham. She was cafeteria supervisor at St. Mary's Hospital from 1959 to 1970. Surviving are four children, Shirley Geiger of Germantown, Tenn; Judy Stark of Mansfield, Texas, Mike Beckham of Enid and Tim Beckham of Flower Mound, Texas; one brother, Bill Bushnell of Enid; nine grand-children; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nov. 9, 1980, one sister and one brother. Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the church or Cookson Hills Children. Theda Rehm Fairview - The funeral for Theda Calhoun Rehm, 59, will be 1 p.m. Thusday in Aline Christian Church. The Rev. Casey McKenna will officiate. Burial will be in Aline Star Cemetery. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home, Helena. She was born Dec. 21, 1942, in Enid to Roy and Edith Cartermill Calhoun and died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2002, at Fairview Fellowship Home. She attended grade school at Aline and graduated from Ringwood High School. She earned a bachelor of science degree in social work from Northwestern State College, Alva, then worked in home health care as a certified nurses aid. She was a member of Aline Christian Church and Central Christian Church in Fairview. Surviving are her husband, David of Fairview; three children, Rick Herbst of Fairview, Russ Herbst of Enid and Retha McCoy of Woodward; one sister, LaVonna Massey of Merced, Calif.; one brother, Ed Calhoun of eastern Oklahoma; and 10 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother. Memorials may be made to the funeral home. Chester A. Little A graveside service for Chester A. Little, 76, will be 5 p.m. Thursday in Ames Cemetery Pavilion. Brian Meyer will officiate. Arrangements are by Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. He was born Sept. 13, 1925, near Ames to E.E. and Mabel Turner Little and died Monday, Aug. 12, 2002, at Intergris Bass Baptist Health Center after a period of ill health. In 1945, he married Betty Stricker in Enid. He served in the Army during World War II, fighting in the Battle of the Bulge. He ws awarded the bronze star. He also served in occupation of Japan. He earned his high school diploma in 2001 at Cimarron. He was a farmer in Ames and a carpenter. He was a member of Ames American Legion. Surviving are his wife, Betty of the home; one brother, Bob of Enid; one sister, Edna Randolph of Hydro; three children, Larry of Clinton, Diane Faught of Enid and Gale Kirchner of Canyon, Texas; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Ames American Legion. Zella Fairleigh A graveside service for Zella Fairleigh, 84, will be 10 a.m. Friday in Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel. The Rev. John McLemore will officiate. Arrangements are by Henninger-Allen Funeral Home. Visitation with family will be 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. She was born Aug. 7, 1918, on a farm that is now Vance Air Force Base, to Ernest and Violette Jacobs Baker and died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2002, at Integris Bass Baptist Pavilion. She attended Sunny Slope grade school, Emerson Junior High School and graduates from Enid High School in 1936. She attended Phillips University. On Aug. 5, 1939; she married Fred Fairleigh at Enid. She was a life-long member of Central Christian Church and the Sooner Sunday school class. She was employed at Vance Air Force Base and at Longfellow Junior High School Cafeteria. Surviving are two sisters, Mary Ruth Cooper and Vera Sue Bunch, both of Enid; and one brother, Ralph Baker of Enid. She was preceded in death by her husband and one sister. Warren M. Johnson Oklahoma City - A graveside service for Warren M. "Jack" Johnson, 90, will be 1 p.m. Friday in Memorial Park Cemetery, Enid. Arrangements are by Smith & Kernke Funeral Directors, 14624 N. May Avenue. He was born Feb. 12, 1912, in Hitchock to Murray Howard and Sarah Estella Gunning Johnson and died Monday, Aug. 12, 2002 in Oklahoma City. On Nov. 27, 1935, he married atha Marie Mulikin. They lived in Enid until 1946, then moved to Oklahoma City. After retirement, they built a home in Twin Lakes, near Crescent. They moved back to Oklahoma City and in 1996 to Midwest City. he was honored in 1998 for 50 years of service as a Mason. Surviving are one daughter, Sarah K. Boldman of Oklahoma City; five grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Oct. 2, 1999, and sisters. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's or American Heart Association. Maxine M. Traynor The funeral service for Maxine M. Traynor, 82-year-old Enid resident, will be Thursday, August 15, 2002 at 11 a.m. at the North Garland Road Church of Christ. Tom Washburn will officiate. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Henninger-Allen Funeral Home. There will be a visitation on Wednesday evening from 6-7:30 at the funeral home. After a brave struggle with cancer, Maxine peacefully passed from this life to the arms of her savior August 12, 2002. She was born January 5, 1920 at Byron, OK to Forest and Emily (Cutright) Furgason. She was an outstanding basketball player at Lambert High Schook, graduating in 1938. On July 28, 1939 she was united in marriage to Joseph L. Traynor. He preceded her in death July 20, 2002. The couple farmed and owned and operated a dairy for many years. Maxine took much pride in her flower and vegetable gardens, working many long hours each day for it to be just right. She was a member of the North Garland Road Church of Christ. She also volunteered at St. Mary's Hospital for many years. She is survived by her daughters Pat Traynor of Claremont, Calif., Jovita Lang and her husband Joe, of Fairmont, and son Terry Traynor of Enid. Two grandchildren Katy and Michael Lang of Enid. Also a sister LaVerne Ralstin of Greensburg, KS. She was preceded in death by her parents, one infant sister, and two brothers. Memorials may be made to Hospice Circle of Love or Our Daily Bread with Henninger-Allen acting as custodians of the fund. Those hard working hands can finally rest in peace. Lennie Mayo Funeral service for Lennie Mayo, age 87, will be 2:00 p.m. today at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Williams and Everett Ohls officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park under the direction of the Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. She was born to Scott and Ollie Spoonts THomas on December 27, 1914 in Salado, Texas and passed from this life an Monday, August 12, 2002 at Enid Senior Care. She married Rev. Oscar Mayo October 7, 1931 in Oglesby, Texas. She is survived by her husband the Rev. Oscar Mayo; fourdaughters, Velma and husband John Kuberskey of Enid, Louise and husband Glenn Walton of Enid, Nella V. and husband Kenneth Gibbs of Borger, Texas, Darlene and husband Harold Reese of Beeville, Texas. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, 20 great grand-children and five great great grandchildren, two brothers and one sister. Her parents, five sisters, and one great grandson preceded her in death. Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church through the church or funeral home. Donald L. Courtright Donald L. Courtright was born November 25, 1919 on a farm in northern Grant County, Oklahoma to Ethel McDonald and Lloyd Courtright, where he grew up. He died August 10, 2002, at the age of 82, in his home in Caldwell from ALS (Lou Gerigs Disease). Don attended Springdale District 7 through grade school then went to Caldwell High School and graduated in 1938. he married Wilma E. Reser on December 4, 1941 at the Christian Church parsonage. To this union one son, Curt Reser was born. With the help of his parents, he and Wilma improved a place closed by and farmed. He was employed by Jenista Bros. for severa years and thoroughly enjoyed his "bosses" friendship. He attended Sunnyside Church of God with his parents until 1943 when he and Wilma started attending the Christian Church in Caldwell, where he served in various capacities for many years. He was trustee and general "Fix-it" man for many years then given the honor of Trustee, Emeritus. In 1958 the family moved into Caldwell, but continued driving to the farm until gradually retiring. he enjoyed restoring small gas engines and collecting farm related tools and memorabilia. His "talents" were many, but unusally did not come from books. He said, "Just figure it out and use common sense." To him tht included plumbing, welding, electrician, mechanics, and unending patience trying to make a motor run smooth. He enjoyed gardening and sharing its abundance, if there was any. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Wilma (they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2001); son, Curt and wife, Donna of Enid, Oklahoma; granddaughter Jennifer and husband Eric Spruce of fort Bragg, North Calina, Christopher Ryan and wife Lindsey of Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi; two great grandsons, Keegan and Grayson, and cousins and friends. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 13, 2002 at the Central Christian Church in Caldwell with Rev. Dan Price officiating. Barbara Shaffer and Diana Lowe sang "One Day At A Time." Mrs. Ruth Johnson played a piano solo of "He Was There All The Time, LaRae Foster was the organist. Casket berers were Robert Lebeda, Jim Powell, Steve Ferguson, Gary McDonald, Allen Shellhammer, and Kim Miller. Interment was in the Caldwell City Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Schaeffer Mortuary. Memorials have been established in memory of Don with the Central Christian Church or the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice. Marjorie Pauline Goodhue Funeral services for Marjorie Pauline Goodhue will be Friday August 16, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Brya Hendrickson officiating. Burial will follow at Del Norte Cemetery, Drummond, under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home. She was born on November 3, 1915, on a farm southwest of Enid the daughter of Bernard and Nell Travis Goodhue. She attended Turkey Creek Grade School, Drummond High School and Phillips University where she obtained an elementary Teacher's Certificate. She lived on the family farm until moving to Enid in 1974. She was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister-in-law Mrs. Eva Goodhue. She is survived by one niece Betty Jean Clelland of Enid; three great-nieces and nephews, and six great-great nieces and nephews. Carlos Jay "Chuck" Lang Carlos Jay "Chuck" Lang, 78, of Enid, died early Tuesday morning, Aug. 13, 2002 in St. Mary's Regional Medical Center. Church was born May 22, 1924 to Fred and Elsie Vette Lang in Enid where he was reared and attended Reynolds Elementary School, Longfellow Junior High and graduated from Enid High School in 1941. He attended Phillips University and later MIT. Church entered the U.S. Navy during WWII serving in Communications in the Pacific Theatre. Following his discharge, Chuck returned to Enid and began working for Southwestern Bell Telephone in 1946. Carlos Jay Lang married Frances "Fran" Montague Oct. 15, 1949 in Enid where they made their home. Chuck farmed and continued with Southwestern Bell in Enid and later in Oklahoma City until his retirement in 1981. Fran preceded him in death July 14, 1997. Chuck then volunteered as a mentor at Enid High School and with Lifeline through Bass Memorial Baptist Hospital. He married Nona Massingill Miller February 3, 2001 in Enid. Chuck was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Telephone Pioneers of American, a 32nd Degree Mason with the Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star, the Shriner Adkar Temple, First Senior Ambucs, VFW and American Legion. He was preceded in death by two brothers. Churck is survived by his wife Nona of the home; one daughter, Stacey Robison and her husband Larry of Enid; three nephews, Michael Lang, Mark Lang and Monty Lang and wife Michelle; a great-nephew, Keaton Lang and a great-niece, Montana Lang all of Mississippi, and one aunt Mrs. Ernest (Minnie) Lang of Fairmont, OK. Also surviving are three step-children, John E. Miller and wife Pasm of Newkirk, Mary Jo Peeper and husband Joe and Ruth Ann Burnett all of Enid, six step-grandchildren, Natalie (Miller) McBride and husband Glenn of Newkirk, Bill Pepper and wife Autumn of Syracuse, KS, Christie Jo Peeper of Enid, Danny Joe Peeper and wife Jennifer Jo of Marland, OK., Vanessa Miller and Jennifer (Burnett) Gilbreath and husband Kenny all of Enid and two step- grandchildren, Jeremy McBride of Newkirk and Alexis Marie Peeper of Enid. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 16, 2002, in the Henninger-Allen Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Wiggs officiating. Burial will follow in the Masonic Garden in Memorial Park Cemetery. Those who wish may make memoral fund contributions in his memory to the Shriners Crippled Childrens Hospital - Transportation Fund.
