Service pending with Andersen Funeral Home, Ton- kawa. J. Brice Bryan Kiowa, Kan. — The funeral for J. Bruce Bryan, 55, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Kiowa Congregational United Christian Church. The Rev. Bill Kraus will officiate. Burial with military honors by Kiowa VFW will be in Riverview Cemetery. Arrange- ments are by Lanman Funeral Home of Kiowa. He was born Sept. 14, 1946, in Oakland, Calif., to Carl Rudolph and Nolly Ellen Lacy Ervin Bryan and died Saturday, Aug. 17. 2002, at his home in Kiowa. He graduated from Belmont High School in Los Angeles, then served in the Army from 1966 to 1968 as a combat medical corpsman with 3rd Battalion, 8th Infantry, 4th Infantry Division, Pleiku, RVN. On June 28, 1969, he married Cynthia Marie Tucker at Kiowa. They lived in California. He obtained a bachelor of science degree in business administration/finance at California State University, Los Angeles. He was president of Alpha-Kappa Psi, Delta Epsilon Chapter. In 1971, they moved to Kiowa. He worked with The Tucker Co. and was president of South-Barber Booster Club. He served on Kiowa District Hospital, board and Kiowa City Council and as Webelo leader, Boy Scouts of America. He received a pilot's license in 1972. In 1984, they moved to Wichita, Kan. and owned and operated Wichta Tire. They were members of Pilgrim UCC and Wichita Chamber of Commerce committee on small business. In 1991, they moved back to Kiowa and purchased The Tucker Co. He was a Borderline Theater member, serving as vice president and participating in all productions. He was president of Kiowa ConCongregational UCC church board, church choir and handbell chioir and had received license to be interim minister of his church. Surviving are his wife, Cindy; one son, Jeff of Kiowa; one daughter, Lacey Ellen Bryan of Hutchlnson, Kan.; one brother, Sherman "Pete" Bellew of Sapulpa; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Bruce, Bryan Backstage Mem- orial/Borderline Theater, the church's music department, Kiowa Public Library, Victory in the Valley Cancer Center of Kansas for Leukemia research. Everett Sober GAGE — A graveside service for Everett Leon Sober, 77, will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in Harmen Cemetery at Harmon. Arrangements are by Johnson's Good Samaritan Funeral Service, Shattuck. He was born Sept. 26, 1924, in Harmon to Arley and LaVona Dyke Sober and died Sunday, Aug. 18, 2002, at the Veterans Hospital in Albuquerque, N.M. He attended school at Harmon before moving with family to Sunray, Texas, where he completed school. In 1941, he enlisted into the Army and served in the Philippines for two years. He attained the rank of staff sergeant. On April 5, 1946, he married Sidna H. Layton. He worked as a pipeline welder. In 1977, he married Nevada Gresham. He married Hazel Fields at Higgins, Texas, on Jan. 29, 2002. Surviving are his wife. Hazel of the home; his mother, LaVona Marston of Mooreland; three daughters, Patricia Ann Jacoby, Paula Jo Scott and Sandra Kay Meininger, all of Gage; two sons, Jimmy of Miami, Texas, and Everett of Laverne; two stepchildren, Linda Bonin and Johnnie Ray Fields., both of Gage; one brother, Jackie of Amarillo; two half brothers, Luther Sober of Brownwood, Texas, and Irwin "Buster" Sober of Moore; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three stepgrand-children;, three step great-grand-children; and two foster grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, two wives and one granddaughter. Lewis M. Brown CHEROKEE — A graveside service for Lewis Merle Brown, 74, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in, Cherokee Municipal Cemetery. The Rev. Ray Swift will officiate. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home of Cherokee. He was born Jan. 7, 1928, in Ponca City to Joseph and Ammie Mackey Brown and died Sunday Aug. 18. 2002, at Highland Park Manor, Enid. He served in the Navy and had lived in Kansas since 1963, moving to Cherokee in July 2002. He built campers and mobile homes and attended the Christian Church in Ponca City. Surviving are his wife, Marjorie Lattimer of Wellington. Kan.; six children, Connie Bouziden of Cherokee, Janett Murrow of Bums Hat, Lewis Brown, John Zielinski and Dianna Thompson, all of Wellington; Louise Guyle of Hazelton, Kan., one brother, George of Ponca City; two sisters, Mildred Chambers of Denver, and Mary Baehr of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Etta Mae Elliott GAGE — The funeral for Etta Mae Jessie Elliott, 76, will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Gage First Baptist Church. The Rev. Gary Flynt will officiate. Burial will be in Gage Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are by Johnson's Good Samaritan Funeral Service, Shattuck. She was born Oct. 19, 1925, in Kansas City, Kan., to Fred and Grace Reed Bradfield and died Sunday, Aug. 18, 2002, at Shattuck Nursing Center. She lived in Kansas until the age of 3, then moved with family to Canadian, Texas. She graduated from Canadian High School in 1942. On Sept. 7, 1946, she married Isaac V. Elliott at Gage. They lived in Gage and owned and operated Gage Produce Store. She later worked in die dietary department of Newman Memorial Hospital for 14 years before retirement. She was a member of Gage First Baptist Church, taught Sunday school, volunteered at Falls Creek Camp and was a Pink Lady. She belonged to Gage American Legion Auxiliary. Surviving are her husband, Isaac of Gage: one daughter, Carolyn Kay Lynes of Woodward; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, one grandson and one brother. Memorials maiy be made through the funeral home to the church's building fund or Alzheimer's Foundation. William E. Whitehead CHEROKEE — A graveside service for William Earl Whitehead, 77, will be 2:30 p.m. today in Cherokee Municipal Cemetery. The Rev. Douglas Dorris will officiate. Arrangements are by Goodwin Funeral Home. Visitation is 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at the funeral home. He was born Feb. 25, 1925, in Capron to Esco Leroy and Hazel Rosanna Crowl Whitehead and died Sunday, Aug. 18, 2002, at Share Medical Center, Alva. The family moved to Ingersol where they had a gas station and creamery, then moved to different towns in Kansas. He attended Winfield State Training School. He went to Fiests Care Home, Haviland, Kan., before moving to Cherokee Manor in 1972. He was a member of the Christian Church. Surviving are cousins. Marie E. Becker MOUNDRIDGE, Kan. — The funeral for Marie E. Becker. 81. will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Bethel College Mennonite Church. Norma Johnson, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Newton, Kan. Arrangements are by Petersen Funeral Home, Newton. She was born Oct. 23, 1920, in Ringwood to Peter H. and Eva Thomas Eck and died Saturday, Aug. 17, 2002, at Memorial Home in Moundridge. On Feb. 16. 1941, she married Roscoe Becker at Goltry. The family moved to Newton in 1955 from Enid. She was a homemaker and a retired certi- fied medical aide at Friendly Acres Retirement Community in Newton. She moved to Moundridge in July 2001. She was a member of Bethel College Mennonite Church in North Newton, Kan. Surviving are one son; Ross of Visalia, Calif.; one daughter, Renee Floyd of Modesto, Calif.; and one granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jan. 14, 1990. Barbara L. Louthan ALVA — The funeral for Barbara L. Louthan, 53, will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Alva First Baptist Church. Nick Shatter, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Orion Cemetery, northeast of Chester. Arrangements are by Redinger Funeral Home, Selling. The casket will be open at the church from 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday. She was bom Aug. 28, 1948, to Alien and Lucille Seifried Chaloupek and died Saturday, Aug. 17, 2002, at Mercy Health Center, Oklahoma City. She graduated from Selling High School in 1966. On July 29, 1967, she married Jim Louthan in Selling where they made their home. They lived in several places, including Woodward, Liberal and Garden City, Kan. The past 25 years, they lived in Alva. She earned a bachelor of science degree in nursing from Northwestern Oklahoma State University, Alva. Surviving are her husband, Jim of Alva; one daughter, Katricia Hickerson of Monument, Colo.; two sons, David of Freedom and J.J. of Alva; her mother, Lucille Chaloupek of Canton; one brother, Terry Chaloupek of Longdale; one sister, Gloria Seal of Waukomis; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father in 1978. Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, Leukemia or Lymphoma Division. Opal Rayner NASH - The funeral for Opal Rayner will be 10 a.m. today in Nash First Christian Church. Burial will be in New Home Cemetery. Arrangements are by Wilson Funeral Home, Pond Creek. James "Jim" Parrish Funeral services for James "Jim" Parrish, age 79 of Enid, will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 22, 2002 at Redeemer Lutheran Church with the Rev. Jerry Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Henninger-Allen Funeral Home. Jim was born February 6, 1923 to James and Anna Dotson in Maysville, OK and died Saturday, August 17, 2002 at The Living Center in Enid. He joined the Army in 1942, serving in the U.S. and India. After three and a half years, he was discharged and moved to Montana to work in the copper mines. In 1950 he moved to Enid where he lived until his death. He worked 27 years at The Champlin Refinery. He enjoyed fishing and traveling with his wife Dorothy. He is survived by his wife Dorothy of the home; sons, James "Jimmy" Melvin, Robert "Bob" Henry, Chandler, OK, Marvin Darrell and wife Marian, Albany, TX and John and wife Doris; Gentryville, IN; daughters, Ester and husband JR, Enid, OK, Georgene and the late Rudolph, Enid, OK and Kathleen and hus- band Steve, Mooreland, IN; brothers, Art Parrish. Commerce City, CO and William "Bill" Clifton, Enid, OK; 12 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Olie Mae Parrish and Ethel Marie Tappan; brother, Oilie Coy Parrish. Memorials may be made to Hospice Circle of Love or the Redeemer Lutheran Church with the funeral home serving as custodians. H. J. "Bud" Romans Graveside service for H.J. "Bud" Romans will be August 21, 2002 at 11 a.m. under the directions of Johnsons Funeral Home, Pawhuska, OK at South Heights Cemetery, Sapulpa, OK. Bud was born February 17, 1915 at Preston, OK to James and Judith Muriel Romans. He married Nettie F. Jones March 26, 1937 in Chandler, OK. Nettie preceded Bud in death August 12, 2002. They were residents of Greenbrier Nursing Home at the time of their deaths. Bud went to be with Nettie August 18, 2002. He was the oldest of eight children, four brothers and three sisters who have all preceded him to be with God as well as his parents. He is survived by a daughter Dariene and husband Don Druiett, Waukomis; three grand-children Randy and Barbara Griffin, Greely, CO., Gayla and Chris McAtee, Laverne, OK and Rodger and Nancy Griffin, Enid, OK; eight great grandchildren Jeff and Lacy Griffin, U.S. Navy, BJ and Carrie Griffin, Colorado Springs, CO, Jerre Griffin, Lamar, CO, Dustin and Amber, Brant and Earin and Cory McAtee, Laveme, OK, Wendy and Kristopher Griffin, Enid, OK; three great great grandchildren Dar and Mara Jade Griffin, Dallas, TX, and Shelby Smith, Enid; and many nieces and nephews.
