Service pending with Wharton Funeral Chapel, Alva. Minnie Lee McFarland Woodward - The funeral for Minnie Lee McFarland, 71, will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Crown Heights Baptist Church. The Rev. James Steenbergen will officiate. Burial will be in Gage Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are by Johnson's Good Samaritan Funeral Service. She was born Nov. 24, 1930, in Clinton to Troy "Curly" and Norma Gray Moffitt and died Friday, Aug. 23, 2002, in her home at Woodward. She moved to Arkansas and attended school at McGehee. On April 6, 1960, she married Dennis Alvin McFarland at Clayton, N.M. They moved to Woodward. She worked at the Trego factory for 10 years. She joined Crown Heights Baptist Church in 1992, was a Pink Lady and a member of the Extension Homemakers for 20 years. Surviving are her husband, Dennis of the home; one son, Sonny Akines of Kirbyville, Texas; three daughters, Peggy Diann Brewington of McGehee, Delilah Gay of Woodward and LaBrenda McFarland of Sapulpa; two sisters, Betty Gingrich of Mooreland and Faye Atkins of Canadian, Texas; one brother, L.D. Moffitt of Tucson, Ariz; two stepbrothers, Troy F. Moffitt of Little Rock, Ark., and Loyd Moffitt of Enola, Ark.; two step-sisters, Violet Clark of Whitehall, Ark., and Louvella Hill of Conway, Ark.; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter and one sister. Memorial may be made to American Diabetes Association. Benjamin Lee Crist Jr. Okarche - Wake for Benjamin Lee Crist, Jr. 76, will be 7 p.m. Wednesday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Max Schwarz, deacon, will preside. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will be in El Reno Cemetery. Arrangements are by Sanders Funeral Service, Kingfisher. He was born Nov. 13, 1925, in Mary Neal Texas, to Benjamin Lee, Sr. and Martha Kathleen Kent Crist and died Thursday, Aug. 22, 2002, at his home in Okarche. On Jan. 21, 1949, he married Ruth Uldyne Patrick at Phoenix. He served 22 years in the Army with the Green Beret. After retirement, he worked with the United States Postal Service for 10 years. He had lived the past two years in Okarche. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Surviving are his wife, Ruth of the home; one daughter, Nancy Walters of Calumet; two sisters, Lillian Gill and Margaret Stone, both of Arizona; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son and one grandson. Ruth A. Smith Cherokee - The funeral for Ruth A. Smith, 73, will be 2 p.m. Monday at Bible Baptist Church. The Revs. Harold hughbanks and Jack Lowe will officiate. Burial will be in Alva Municipal Cemetery. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home. She was born May 28, 1929, in Fargo to Ernest Lee and Agatha Elizabeth Keenan Morgan and died Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002, at Share Medical Center in Alva. She graduated from Fargo High School and leter married Earnest E. Smith at Higgins, Texas. They lived near Wheeler and Perryton, Texas, working on various ranches. In 1962, she moved to Cherokee. She was a member of Bible Baptist Church and served as church secretary and taught Sunday school. She was a caregiver, working in nursing homes and hospitals. Surviving are two sons, Paul and Everett; five daughters, Marilyn West, Lena Roach, Viola Smith, Debra Highfill and Kathryn Ruff; two brothers, George Morgan and Leo Morgan; 15 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the church. Gladys S. Francis Kingfisher - A graveside service for Gladys Selma Francis, 94, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in Kingfisher Cemetery. The Rev. Leon Seaton will officiate. Arrangements are by Sanders Funeral Service. She was born June 19, 1908, in Matson, Mo., to Herman and Emma Telgemeier Schaechter and died Friday, Aug. 23, 2002, at First Shamrock Nursing Center. At the age of 2, she moved with family to Kingfisher. She graduated from Kingfisher High School in 1926. On Aug. 19, 1929, she married Thomas Francis at Oklahoma City. She worked as a library assistant for 16 years at Kingfisher Library and was a life-time member of the Federated Church. Surviving are one son, Wayne of Piedmont; and one grandson. Memorials may be made to Frist Shamrock Nursing Center, 1415 S. Main Street, Kingfisher, OK 73750 E. Milton States The funeral for E. Milton States, 83, will be 2 p.m. Monday in Enid First Nazarene Church. The Rev. Edsal Hall and Dr. Robert J. Shephard will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. He was born Jan. 3, 1919, in Aline to Milton Edward and Cynthia Ellen Clark States and died Friday, Aug. 23, 2002, in St. Mary's Regional Hospital. He attended school in the Kingfisher and the Cashion areas. On July 24, 1935, he married Hazel Fern Jones at Oklahoma City. They lived in Wakita and Medford, where he farmed. In 1981, he retired and they moved to Enid. He was a member of Enid First Nazarene Church. Surviving are his wife, Fern of the home; one son, Ellis; one daughter. Carolyn Campbell; four grandchildren; and 10 great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four sisters, three brothers and one granddaughter. Darrell B. Schmitz Medford - The funeral for Darrell B. Schmitz will be 10 a.m. Monday at United Methodist Church, Jefferson. Burial will follow in Rosemound Cemetery. Arrangements are by Hills-Ely Funeral Home. Olivia K. Laubach Funeral services for Olivia K. Laubach, age 87, of Enid will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Ladusau-Evans Chapel with Rev. Keith Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Rose Lawn Cemetery, Okeene, under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. She was born April 28, 1915, in Okeene, OK to John and Katherine Irion Laubach and passed away Thursday, August 22, 2002, in Greenbrier Nursing Home. She graduated from the Okeene High School and received her Bachelor of Science degree from Northwestern State in Alva, and her Master of Education from Oklahoma University. She taught 39 years in Oklahoma schools retiring from the Ponca City school system. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Garfield County Retired Teachers Association, Kappa Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International and Kappa Kappa Iota. Survivors include five nephews, Weldon Geis, Willis Geis, Victor Geis, all of Okeene, John Voght of Manhattan, KS, Alfred Voght of Shawnee Mission, KS; four nieces, Maxine Davidson of Waynoka, Oleta Wilson of Kenneivick, WA, Normal Luce of Viejo, CA, and Olga Elliot of Independence, Missouri. Her parents, three brothers and five sisters preceded her in death. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church or the charity of their choice with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodians of the fund.
