Kingfisher - The funeral of Robert Kean Wattson, Jr., 79, will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Johns Luthran Church, Okarche. The Rev. John Walther will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Johns Lutheran Cemetery, Okarche. Arrangements are by Sanders Funeral Service. He was born Oct. 18, 1922, in Kansas City, MO., to Robert Kean and Anna Smith Wattson and died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2001. He attended Northeast High School. He graduated from Kansas City Junior College and from Oklahoma Agricultural abd Mechanical College in 1946, with a degree in mechanical engineering. In 1948, he took a master of science degree in aeronautical engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was a professional engineer in North Dakota and Indiana. He was a project engineer in the research department of Cessna Aircraft Co., was manager of vertical and short takeoff aerodynamics with the Wichita, Kan., division of Boeing, was a preliminary design specialist at Beech Aircraft Corp., and was chief of aerodynamics, chief of the technical staff and chief of research and development at Learjet Industries. He also was chief engineer and head of the department of engineering research at the University of Wichita, working in the boundary layer control and short takeoff and landing research. He was an instructor in mechanical engineering and briefly was an adjunct professor at Oklahoma State University, was an associate professor of aeronautical engineering at Wichita University, and was tenured at the North Dakota State College and at Tri-State University in Angola, LA. He was chairman of the department of mechanical engineering technology of Oregon Institute of Technology, and retired as professor of aerospace engineering and associate chairman of the Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering Department at Tri-State University. He enlisted in the Army in 1942 and was a veteran of World War II. In 1944, he was commissioned in the Army Air Corps. He retired as a reserve lieutenant colonel in 1982. He was a member of the Lutheran Church, the honor society of Phi Kappa Phi and Sigma Gamma Tau, and Sigma XI, the international scientific research society. He was an associate fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and was chairman of the Wichita and St. Joseph Valley sections. He also held membership in the Society of Automotive Engineers and the American Society for Engineering Education, and was a three-time Fellow in the NASA/ASEE Summer Facility Fellowship program, performing research on wind shear effects on airplane performance, and on community aspects of general aviation. He played several musical instruments, and was an organist at Holy Cross Lutheran Church of Wichita, and Calvary Lutheran Church at Angola. He was a former member of the American Guild of Organists. Surviving are three sons, Robert and Vincent, both of Wichita, and Keith of Peabody, Kan.; one adopted son, Bruce; two daughters, Elsie Vezey of Tuson, Ariz. and Meredith Lowry of Springfield, MO.; one sister, Vendla Knapp pf Miami, Fla.; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- EDNA HAZEL POOLE Aimwell - La. The funeral for Edna Hazel Poole, 103, was held at 10 a.m. Nov. 28, in Aimwell Baptist Church. The Revs. Craig James and Keith Thomas officiated. Burial was in the Randall Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Riser Funeral Home of Olla. She was born Oct. 21, 1898, in Nickel, La., to Andrew Jackson and Lucy Ratcliff and died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2001, at the LaSalle General Hospital in Jena, La. She was a homemaker and a member of the Aimoch Baptist Church. Surviving are four sons, Lewis J. of Enid, Jesse D. of Hinesville, Ga., Laevon S. of Olla, and Moses A. of Aimwell; one daughter, Irma Berry of Jena, La.; 23 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; 34 great-great-grandchildren; and four great-great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and a son. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MOLLY HERBER Shattuck - The funeral of Molly Herber, 86, will be 2 p.m. Sunday at the Seventh Day Adventist Church. The Rev. Gordon Burton will officiate. Burial will follow in the Shattuck Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are by Good Smaritan Funeral Service. She was born Sept. 14, 1915, at Shattuck to George and Catherine Hilderman Kraft and died Thursday Nov. 29, 2001, at Shattuck Nursing Center. She attended school at Follett and later made her home in Shattuck, where she worked as a housekeeper for the Schultz family. She married Dave C. Herber Aug. 21, 1935. They made their home on various farms in Ellis County. He died in 1987. She was a nurse at Newman Memorial Hospital. She also worked in medical records department. She retired after 25 years of service. She later married Dave G. Herber April 29, 1997, at Lipscomb, Texas. They made their home in Shattuck until moving to the Shattuck Nursing Center in 1998. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Surviving are her husband, Dave of the home; a son, Doug Herber of Shattuck; three daughters, Julene Meier of Beaver, Carol Wells of Washington and Marlene Webb of Oklahoma City; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great- great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, a brother, two sisters and a great-granddaughter. Memorials may be made to the diabetes Association. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- LOVENA ETHEL FOUST The funeral of Lovena Ethel Foust, 85, will be 2 p.m. Monday at Anderson-Burris Chapel. She was born Jan. 11, 1916, in Thomas to Edward and Nina Brubaker Showalter and died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2001, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center. She grew up in Thomas and grduated from Thomas High School. She married Theodore "Ted" Foust July 6, 1935, in Thomas. They moved to Garber in 1945, then to Enid in 1951, where she was a homemaker. She was a member of the Enid Community Church of the Brethren. Surviving are three daughters, Reta Gragg and JoAnn Gragg, both of Enid, and Carolyn "Susie" Ott of Kremlin; three sisters, Fern Davidson, Ella Jones and Verda Potter, all of California; one brother, Charles Showalter of Casper, Wyo.; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 9 great-great- grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Enid Community Church of the Brethren with the funeral home acting as custodian of the funds. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- EDITH ROLLMANN Edmond - The funeral of Edith Rollmann, 88, former Helena resident, will be 11 a.m. Monday at Helena Church of Christ. Paul Story will officiate. Burial will follow in Good Hope Cemetery. The casket will be open from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday, 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, and Monday following the service. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home, Helena. She was born Sept. 24, 1913, in Shelbina, MO., to Frank and Nannie Drye McGlasson and died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2001, at Grace Living Center in Edmond. She graduated from Shawnee High School and married Oscar Rollmann April 1, 1934. They lived in the Aline area during their early married years and moved to a farm south of Helena. She owned and operated a cafe in Helena. In 1989, they moved to Bethany, then to Oklahoma City. She became a resident of Grace Living Center in 1999. She was a member of Helena Church of Christ. Surviving are one son, Jay Dee of Oklahoma City; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar in 1993, four sisters and four brothers. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CHARLES ZALABAK Funeral services for Charles Zalabak will be at 12:30 p.m. Sunday in Henninger- Allen Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Gordon Epps will officaiate. Masonic Rites will be held following the service. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Henninger-Allen Funeral Home. Charles was born July 11, 1923 in Kingfisher to Frank and Dora Francis Zalabak and passed away Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2001 at Penrose Main Hospital, Colorado Springs, CO. Charles attended Drummond schools and graduated from Enid High School. He was a graduate of the University of Oklahoma with degrees in engineering and physics. During WW II he served with the 79th Airdrome Squadron in the Pacific Theatre. Charles worked as a research physicist for NASA. Mr. Zalabak served in the Peace Corps in Ghana after his time at NASA. On Dec. 30, 1975 he married the former Pamela Shockley in Green Mountain Falls, CO. The couple made their home in Colorado Springs. The Zalabaks have maintained farming and business interests in Oklahoma. He was self employed at the time of his death. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Colorado Springs. Mr. Zalabak is survived by his wife, Pamela Shockley-Zalabak of Colorado Springs, CO; one daughter, Yvonne Zalabak-Cotter of CA; one granddaughter, Carissa Cotter of CA; one sister, Margery Putter, (formerly of Drummond) of Colorado Springs, CO. Charles was preceded in death by his parents. Memorials may be made through Henninger-Allen Funeral Home to the Reach Your Peak scholarship program or Dr. Michael Glode Cancer Research Program; both in care of the University of Colorado Foundation, or Drummond United Church of Christ. Etta was born in Venus, Texas on March 1, 1908 to Frank and Martha Elizabeth Stubblefield McBride and died Thursday, November 29, 2001 at Integris Bass Baptist Medical Center in Enid. She married Carl Scott Battles, William M. "Bill" Milliorn; and Otis Potts, all of which preceded her in death. Etta earned her Licensed Vocational Nurse degree from Odessa College. She lived in Odessa from 1953 until she moved to Hennessey approximately five years ago. She was a member of the LVN association, the Baptist Church and attended the Church of Christ in Hennessey. She is survived by one daughter, Marie and husband Bob Scott of Odessa, Texas; a special niece, Marlene Morris of Odessa; two grandchildren, James Scott Norman of Odessa, Janice and husband, Will Waldrop of Hennessey; eight great- grandchildren, Tonya Lyn Norman, James Daniel Norman, Lauri Petrolia, Lisa Adkins, Donna Waldrop, Kenny Waldrop, Kayla Waldrop, Justin Waldrop; five great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Her three husbands; one infant son; six sisters and one brother preceded Etta in death. Memorial donations may be made in her name to the Hennessey Church of Christ with the funeral serving as custodian of the fund.
