ALVA - The funeral for Frank John Dennis, 80, will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at, Alva Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Dave Imming, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Alva Municipal Cemetery. Arrangements are by Wharton Funeral Chapel. He was born Nov, 9, 1921, in, Gardner, Mass., to Marion Catherine Martioski and Benjamin George Dennis and died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2001, at his home after a sudden illness. He attended many schools as his father was a career soldier. He graduated in 1940 from Washington Lee High School at Arlington, Va. On Nov. 25, 1942, he entered the Army at Fort Benjamin, Indiana, and was stationed in Alva at the Prisoner of War Camp. On Feb. 10, 1946, he was discharged at Camp Fanning, Texas. On April 5, 1945, he married Velma Rae Shafer at Medicine Lodge, Kan. They lived in Alva. He worked at the Alva Flour Mill. In 1958, he began work at the Alva Post Office, retiring in September of 1979. He was a member of Alva Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Surviving are his wife, Velma; four daughters, Kathy Krows of Seiling, Frances Rae Tanner of Burlington, Betty Jo Bevis and, Karen Kay Swenson, all of Alva; one sister, Helen Patsue of Indianapolis, Ind.; 12 grandchildren; and six great- grandchildren. McKINNON OKEMAH - The funeral for George Allen McKinnon, 57, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church. The Rev. Wade Harelson will officiate. Arrangements are by Parks Brothers Funeral Home. He was born Aug. 3, 1944, in McAlester to George Robert and Helen Louise McKinnon and died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2001, at his home in Okemah. He graduated from Haileyville School and moved to Okemah in 1974. He was assistant manager for the Safeway and Homeland store in Okemah. He was a former member of the National Guard. On June 10, 2000, he married Doris "Dee" McLaughlin at Okemah. Surviving are his wife, Dee; one son, Anthony of Stillwater, one stepson, John Eric Christer of Okemah; two daughters, Misty McKinnon and Amanda McKinnon, both of Newcastle; his mother, Helen Louise Zelnick-McKinnon of Okemah; one brother, Bob of Enid; two grandchildren; and one stepgranddaughter.
