The Revs. Sherry Shaw and Vearl League will officiate. Burial will be in Pond Creek Cemetery. Arrangements are by Wilson Funeral Home. She was Anna Smith born in Indiana to Fergus and Mary K. Ness Crouse and died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001, at Medford Nursing Home. She graduated from Hillsdale High School in 1920. On May 31, 1924, she married Jimmie Smith. She became a switchboard operator for Farmers Telephone Co. in 1922, then Western Light and TelephQne, now Pioneer Telephone cooperative in Pond Creek. She became chief operator in 1946 working for the company for 32 years before retiring in 1954. Surviving are nieces and nephew. She was preceded in death by her husband on June 26, 1982, four brothers and four sisters. Memorials may be made to the church or Pond Creek Cemetery Association. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- JOHN F. LOGUE No funeral is planned for John Franklin Logue, 66. At his request he was cremated. Arrangements are by Brown-Cummings Funeral Home. He was born March 2, 1935 in Bentley, Kan., to William Franklin and Effie Eudora Freman Logue and died Monday, Dec. 3, 2001, at Enid Senior Care. He lived in Newton, Hutchinson and Wichita, Kan., before moving to Oceanside, Calif., and to Hawaii. He served in the Marine Corps for 22 1/2 years, retiring in 1974. He served as infantry staff sergeant in both the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was a member of VFW. Surviving are one daughter, Lynn Beebe of Newton; one stepdaughter, Wanda Stanford of Larned, Kan.; and one brother, Sidney Donovan Logue of Lakeland, Fla. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Thompson, in 1984. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BENNINGTON B. EASTERLY ALVA - Mass of Christian Burial for Bennington Bonne "'Ben" Easterly, 83, will be 2 p.m. Friday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Dave Imming, pastor, will officiate. He was born June 28, 1918, in Alva to Howard Aaron and Mary Alice Waters Easterly and died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center. He graduated from Horace Mann High School and Northwestem State College with a bachelor of arts degree in social studies and sociology. During World War II, he served in the Navy. He was wounded in Iwo Jima. After the war, he was elected to the Oklahoma Legislature, serving eight years as a state representative, then was elected as a senator for eight years. On Sept. 25, 1953, he married Norma Doherty at Wichita, Kan. They lived in the Alva area, where they farmed and ranched. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Surviving are his wife, Norma of Alva; three daughters, Dee Dee Easterly of Irvine, Calif., Shelly Stewart: of Amorita and Chrysa Gillespie of EI Reno; one brother, Eldon of Alva; and four grandchil-dren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and one grandson. Memorials may be made through the funeral home to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MARCELLA HICKS GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - A memorial graveside service for Marcella Culp Hicks, 77, will be 10 a.m. Friday in the Garden Chapel of Del Norte Cemetery at Drummond. The Rev. Wesley Byrd will officiate. Arrangements are by Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. A memorial service in Grand Junction was held Dec. 1. She was born Aug. 18, 1924, in Independence, Mo., to LeRoy and Helena Mae Millard Culp and died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2001, at her home in Grand Junction. She attended school in Independence, Mo. On Oct. II, 1942, she married Paul Arthur Hicks Sr. They moved to Colorado in 1950 and lived in Aurora, Indian Hills, Carbondale and Glenwood Springs. She worked for Montgomery Ward. In 1973, they moved to Drummond. She moved to Grand Junction in 1999. Surviving are one daughter, Sharon Green of Grand Junction; one stepdaughter, June Sharkey of Aurora; her mother, Helena Hattey of Grand Junction; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband on Dec. 9, 1985, one son and her father. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- RONALD L. WORLEY CALDWELL, Kan. - The funeral for Ronald Lee Worley, 60, will be 2 p.m. Friday in Elliott-Schaeffer Mortuary Chapel. The Rev. Jon McDaniel will officiate. Burial will be in Caldwell City Cemetery. He was born Feb. 1, 1941, in Caldwell to Roy Eldon and Mary Hnulik Worley and died Monday, Dec. 3, 2001, at Caldwell. He was a letter carrier for the U.S. Post Office. Surviving are one son, Chris of Las Vegas; and one daughter, Jacquie Worley of Fort Myers, Fla. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ANNETTE M. DAWSON WOODWARD - The funeral for Annette Marie Dawson, 44, will be 2 p.m. Friday in the Garden Chapel of Good Samaritan Funeral Service. The Rev. Allen Mabra will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. She was born Sept. 22, 1957, in Los Angeles, to Robert and Rose Dawson and died Monday, Dec. 3, 2001, at her home. She attended school in Garden Grove, Calif., and graduated from Pacifica High School in 1975. She moved to Woodward in 1990. Surviving are her mother, Rose Dawson of Woodward; her son, Robert of Woodward; her daughter, Amanda Swenson of Woodward; two sisters, Karen Shepherd of Woodward and Linda Manseau of Midvale, Utah; one brother, John Sanford of Huntington Beach, Calif.; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- JESSIE E. MYERS BURLINGTON, Kan. - The funeral for Jessie E. Elkins Goode Myers, 94, will be 2 p.m. Friday in Lanman Funeral Home Chapel, Cherokee. Burial will be in the Aline Star Cemetery. The Rev. David Keller will officiate. Visitation with family will be at Aline United Methodist Church after the service. The casket will be open at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until service time Friday. She was born Sept. 9, 1907, in Woods County to Joel Henry and Gladys Elizabeth Ogilvie Elkins and died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001, at the Life Care Center in Burlington, Kan. As a young girl, she attended Wisby Free Methodist Church and Valley Green Grade School. She graduated from Central Academy and College in McPherson, Kan. She finished college at Alva and taught several years. In May 1942, she married Dean Goode. They farmed south of Aline. He died in December of 1962. She worked at Dyers Grocery in Cleo Springs until retirement. On Dec. 6, 1986, she married John Myers. They lived in Enid. After his death, July 6, 2000, she moved to Burlington, Kan., to be near family. Surviving are her stepchildren, Marvin Myers of Enid, Wayne Myers of Wakita, Galen and Milton Myers of Wichita, Kan., Lynn Myers of Michigan, and Faye Nyes of Illinois. She was preceded in death by her husband, five brothers and three sisters. She was born Dec. 19, 1912, in Texas to Charles and Agnes Wilcox Johnson and died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001, at the home of her daughter in Kingfisher. In 1940, she married Dannie Stiger at Guthrie. After his death, she married J.W. Sturgeon in 1984. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Willing Workers and Hennessey Senior Citizens. Surviving are one daughter, Jackie Frazier of Kingfisher; one stepson, Tenell Sturgeon of Ames; two sisters, Judy Burkhalter of Kingfisher and Inez Blalock of Mount Pleasant, Texas; two grandsons; two great-grandchildren; and three great- great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, one grandson, five brothers and two sisters. She was born July 21, 1904, in Bates County, Mo., to George and Caroline Hammer Gench and died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001, at Integris Bass Pavilion, Enid. She graduated from high school in Bates County, then attended business school at St. Louis. On Aug. 31,1928, she married Glen Ault. They lived in Blackwell. He died July 29, 1978, and she remained in Blackwell until 1987, when she moved to Medford. She later moved to Community Health Center in Wakita. She was a member of United Methodist Church in Blackwell and Blackwell Home Demonstration Club. Surviving are one daughter, Glenna Jan Keller of Medford; one grandson; three great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was born March 11, 1944, in Cyril to Wardlow and Beulah Cobb Thomason and died Monday, Dec. 3, 2001, at Integris Bass Baptist Health Center. She graduated from Cyril High School, then attended two years of business college. On Sept. 17, 1965, she married Fred L Dotson at Oklahoma City. They moved to Enid in 1978. She was employed as an Insurance agent with Dillingham Insurance Co., and was a member of the Moose Lodge. Surviving are two sons, Jeff of Cypress, Texas, and Michael of Enid; her mother, Beulah Thomason of Oklahoma City; three sisters, Gavon Mosher and Mary Thomason, both of Oklahoma City, and Sue Parker Rush Springs; and three grand-children. She was preceded in death by her husband, father and one sister. SCHOVANEC Recitation of the Rosary for Charles R. Schovanec, 72-year-old Hunter resident, was Wednesday, December 5, 2001 at 7:00 p.m. in the Henninger-Allen Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, December 6, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with the Reverends Larry Kowalski, James Mickus, Ernest Flushe, Joe Kolb, and Kevin Devlin as co-celebrants. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Enid, under the direction of Henninger-Allen Funeral Home. Charles was born on July 27, 1929 near Bison, Oklahoma to Charley Jerry and Mary (Bartunek) Schovanec and died on December 3, 2001 in St. Mary's Regional Medical Center. He grew up in Bison and married Marcella Mack in St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Bison with Father Feyen officiating. To this couple five children were born, Terry Lee, Charlene, Charles Bill, Steve, and Deborah. The family made their home near Hunter, Oklahoma in 1951. Charles was a farmer and enjoyed his family, fishing, hunting, and his grandchildren. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and attended St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church. Charles was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #1044. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, and one brother, Leonard. Charles is survived by his wife, Marcella, of the home; five children, Terry and his wife, Sandra Schovanec of Hunter, Charlene and her husband, Joe Skinner, of Oklahoma City, Charles Bill Schovanec of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Steve and his wife, Gail Schovanec of Hunter, and Deborah and her husband, Kevin Kraker of Oklahoma City; one brother, Virgil Schovanec of Waukomis; five sisters, Wilma Petru of Waukomis, Helen Hromas of Mesa, Arizona, Delores Matousek of Hennessey, Erma Kokojan of Waukomis, and Sister Deborah Schovanec, A.S.C., of Wichita, Kansas; ten grandchildren, Mick, Travis, Shellie, Justin, Angela, Scott, Cory, Jarrad, Tyler and MacKenzie; five great-grandchildren, Braden, Halie, Logan, Sydnee, and Kyler; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and many friends.
