Service pending with Anderson-Burris Funeral Home. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- LOYD CURTIS BROOKS The funeral for Loyd Curtis Brooks, 80, of Mustang, will be 2 p.m. Monday at First Christian Church. The Rev. Danny Hinkle will officiate. Burial will be held in Kingfisher Cemetery with American Legion Funeral Rites. Arrangements are by Sanders Funeral Service, Inc. He was born June 30, 1921, in Loyal to Richard and Dollie A. Stewart Brown and died Thursday, Dec. 6. 2001, at Integris Baptist Medical Center, Oklahoma City. He grew up on a farm in the Omega area and graduated from Omega High School in 1939. He served in the Navy during World War II. He married Hulda Anna Cross May 2, 1942, in Enid. He returned to Omega to work the farm for the next 18 years. In 1964, they moved to Edmond where he was involved in the heat and air- conditioning business. They moved to Mustang in 1992. He was a member of Antioch Christian Church, Oklahoma City. He was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters and two grandchildren. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DON DOUGLAS HARPER JR. No service is planned for Don Douglas Harper Jr., 47, at this time. He was cremated at his request. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home. He was born May 1, 1954, in Arkansas City, Kan., to Don Douglas Harper Sr. and Donna Mosier Harper and died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001, at Ringwood. He grew up in Arkansas City, Kan., and married Nani Kalani in Winfield, Kan. He lived in Colorado and various other places. He later married Becky Moon in October 1974, in Good Year, Ariz. In October 1988, he moved to Enid, where he lived until his death. He had been a stone and brick mason for 15 years. Surviving are his mother, Donna L. McCraw and step-father, Floyd McCraw of Enid; three sons, Jacob and David Harper, both of Enid, and Jason Harper of Florida; one daughter, Kaysi Harper of Enid; and one sister, Michele Keenon of Manchester, Kan. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, his father and one brother. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- JESSIE MAE BUSH Tbe funeral for Jessie Mae Bush, 71, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Central Christian Church, Fairview. The Rev, Dr. Thomas D. Schwartz will officiate. Burial will follow in Saran Mennonite Cemetery. The casket will be open at the funeral home and at church from 11:30 a.m. Saturday until service time. Arrangements are by Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. She was born Dec.15, 1929 on the family farm near Fairview to Jesse O. and Gertrude Wymer Jenkens and died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001, at her home. She was raised by her grand-parents, Edward and Sadie Wymer, north of Longdale. When she was nine years old, her mother died. She lived in Fairview and Enid, working for various places, including the Magic Mirror Figure Salon, the Fitness Factory in Fairview, Lamberts and the the Sage Room. She was a member of Central Christian Church in Fairview, Moose Lodge of Enid and was past president of the N.W. Muscular Dystrophy Association. Surviving are two daughters, Debbie Payton Ratzlaff of Fairview, and Robin Bush of Enid; a son, Gary Bush III of Enid; a sister, LaVerda Schaffer of Syracuse, Kan.; a brother, Dick Jinkens of Longdale; three grandchildren; and five great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son. Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the Memorial Bible Fund. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ MARGARET HENLINE RINGWOOD - The funeral for Margaret Henline will be 2 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Randy Spindle will officiate. Burial will follow in Good Hope Cemetery near Helena. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home of Helena. She was born in Augusta, Kan., to Donald Bruce and Frances Sherrick Clark and died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001, in Fairview. She was raised in Augusta by her grandmother. When she was four years old, her mother died. She graduated from Augusta High School and later from Bethany College in Kansas. She married Wilbur Henline in November 1942. She was a homemaker and a social worker for the Department of Human Services. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Ringwood and was active in First Presbyterian of Oklahoma City. They moved to Ringwood in 1964. Surviving are her husband, Wilbur of Norman; one son, Don Henline of Edmond; three grand-children; and one great-grand-daughter. Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the Oklahoma Medical Research. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- OPAL R. VCULEK MARSHALL - A Mass of Christian burial for Opal R. Vculek,78, will be noon Saturday at St. Camillus Catholic Church. The Rev. Mark Mason will officiate. She was born Dec. 16, 1922, in the Duncan area to Edward and Effie King Shawn and died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001, at St. Anthony's Hospital, Oklahoma City. She married Joseph Vculek May 30, 1975, in Oklahoma City. She was a member of St. Camillus Catholic Church and St. Camillus Alter Society. Surviving are her husband, Joseph of the home; one son, Roger Tucker of Jones; two sisters, Thelma Wilkinson of Oklahoma City and Ruby Gill of Moore; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- HERBERT A. PIERCE The funeral for Herbert A. Pierce, 87, of Clinton, formerly of Enid, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Brown-Cummings Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Carrell E. Still will officiate. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery along with military graveside rites, conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2270. Arrangements are by Brown-Cummings Funeral Home. He was born Oct. 13, 1914, on a farm north-east of Cleo Springs to Alanson and Mary Olive Pletzer Pierce and died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001, in the Oklahoma Veteran's Home in Clinton. He was raised in Cleo Springs where he attended high school and the Methodist Church. He lived in Fairview and Tulsa before moving to Enid where he lived until he moved to the Oklahoma Veteran's Home in Clinton due to ill health. He enlisted in the Army in January 1941. He served in the 180th Infantry Company G. He landed at Oran, North Africa, June 8, 1943, and took part in the battles and campaigns at Sicily, Salerno and the Anzio beaches in Italy. He returned to the Engineers Corps in France and Germany and was honorably discharged in 1945 with the rank of buck sergeant. He married Wilma J. Jordan May 13, 1946, in Dodge City, Kan. She died Dec. 1, 1987. He was a partner with Craig and Pierce Plumbing for many years and a member of the Veteran's of Foreign Wars, Local No. 2270. Surviving are a step-son, Tommy Ray Duncan of Enid and a nephew, Robert Pierce of Enid. She retired from Integns Bass Baptist Medical Center. Surviving are a son, Tim Holden and wife Allison of Waco, Texas, and daughter Shannon Meyer and husband Marty; a grandson, Payton, of Enid; and brother Charlie Church of Houston, Texas. Grunau, 92, died December 5, 2001 at Fairview Fellowship Home, Fairview, OK. He was born September 19, 1909 at Enid, the son of Cornelius C. and Sarah Kroeker Grunau. A resident of Enid and more recently of Fairview, he retired from Champlin Refinery. He belonged to the Mennonite Brethren Church of Fairview. He was a past member of the Mennonite Brethren Church of Enid. On July 22, 1934 he was married to Matilda Warkentin. She died February 23, 1992. He held the position of deacon in the church and, assisted his wife with her Child Evangelism Ministry. They were involved in a short term missions serving at the Salvation Army in Oklahoma City and Deer Creek Christian Camp in Bailey, CO. Survivors include two daughters, Phyllis Rempel and husband John of Meade, KS. and Mable Friesen and husband Harvey of Wichita, KS; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister, Mary Braun and husband Dave of Reedley, CA; a sister-in-law Edna Grunau of Collinsville, OK. One brother Henry; four sisters, Edna Sperling, Selma Sawatzky, Tena Penner and Sarah Grunau preceded him in death. Service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 8, 2001 at Enid Mennonite Brethren Church with Pastors Gary Janzen and Garvie Schmidt presiding. The Rev Sherry Shaw and Rev. Vearl League will officiate. Burial wil follow in Pond Creek Cemetery. Arrangements are by Wilson Funeral Home, Pond Creek. She was born in Indiana to Fergus and Mary K. Ness Crouse and died Tuesday, December 4. 2001, at Medford Nursing Home. She graduated from Hillsdale High School in 1920. On May 31, 1924 in Enid, Okla. Rue Anna Crouse married Edgar Farmer "Jimmie" Smith. She became a switchboard operator for Farmers Telephone Company in 1922, then Western Light and Telephone, now Pioneer Telephone cooperative in Pond Creek. She became chief operator in 1946, working for the company for 32 years before retiring in 1954. She enjoyed sewing and cooking. She was a mighty caretaker. Anna was a very loving and caring aunt. Surviving are lots of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband on June 26, 1982; four brothers Elmer, Walter, Henry and Blain Crouse; also four sisters, Randy Estes, Ollie Leverton, Mina Hergert and Goldie Hergert. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church or Pond Creek Cemetery Association. (Paid Obit 12-7-1) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ADRIAN ORTIZ Funeral services for Adrian Ortiz will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the Ladusau-Evans Chapel. Burial will follow in Ames Cemetery under the direction of the Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. Adrian Michael Ortiz was born to Ismael Ortiz and Jennifer (Bishop) Espinoza. He weighed 7 pounds and 6.4 ounces and was 20 1/2 inches long. He was born at 7:04 p.m. on October 16, 2001 and died December 4, 2001 at 2:05 p.m. at Integris Bass Baptist Health Center in Enid. He died from Herlitz Junctional Epidermolysis Bullosa at 7 weeks of age. His grandparent's are Larry Bishop and Adrian Ortiz. His grandmother's are Lily Ortiz and Karolene Suthards. And his great grandma's are Esther Downs and Elvira ortiz. He also has many aunts, uncles and cousins. Adrian's time on earth was brief, and it is difficult for those of us left behind to say goodbye. We are greatful that the suffering is over. We are comforted by the knowledge that those whom have passed before him welcome Adrian into their loving arms. Jesus said, "Suffer the little children to come unto me."
