Bartel 90, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Pentecostal Holiness Church, Canton. Vernon Garrison and James Scott will officiate. Burial will follow in Cherryvale Cemetery. Arrangements are by Haigler Funeral Home. He was born Aug. 31, 1911, at Hitchcock to Peter and Elizabeth Hempel Bartel and died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001, at Fairview Hospital. He grew up and attended schools at Cherryvale and Southard. He married Dorothy Mason Oct. 6, 1935. They lived on a farm five miles west of Canton, and later moved to their farm one mile west of Southhard. He worked at the United States Gypsum plant at Southard for 33 years before retiring in 1974. He also farmed and raised cattle for many years until his health failed. He has lived at the Fairview Fellowship Home for the last several years. Surviving are two sons, Gerald Bartel of Quanah, Texas, and R.O. "Olan" Bartel Southard; two daughters, LaVonda Enos of San Leandro, Calif., and Erna Fisher of Enid; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great- grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy, two infant children, four brothers and three sisters. Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the Cherryvale Cemetery. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- GLENYS MILLER LAMONT - A graveside service for Glenys Miller, 90, will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Lamont Cemetery. Arrangements are by Wilson Funeral Home, Pond Creek. She was born May 18, 1911, at Ingomar, Mont., to Joseph and Nellie Bly Nash Luster and died Thursday, Dec. 13. 2001, at Community Health Center, Wakita. She moved from Montana with her parents when she was two and to Nash when she was eight, where she attended school. She married Ed Miller April 28, 1961, in Oklahoma City. They made their home in Pond Creek and later in Lamont. She was a homemaker. Surviving are a step-son, Lester Miller of Garland, Utah; a step- daughter, Erma Miller of Oklahoma City: and step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Ed, in 1982; a brother and one sister. Memorials may be made to Lamont Christian Church. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ALVA ALLEN REID FRUITA, Colo. - A private family service will be held for Alva Allen Reid, 87. Arrangements are by McLean Funeral Home, Inc. He was born Dec. 6, 1914, on the family farm in Grant County, north of Nash to Claud Reid and Gertrude King Reid and died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001, at his home. He attended the Eagle Grove Elementary School and graduated from Nash High School. He raised cattle and farmed following graduation. He married Helen Glenn. In the early 1940's, they moved to Mesa Valley, Colo., near Fruita, where they purchased a peach orchard, farmed and raised livestock. Survivors are his wife of 63 years, Helen of Fruita: two sons, Gerald R. Reid of Grand Junction, Colo., and Allen Reid of Loma, Colo.; three sisters, Lois Elson of Nash, Pauline Haegert Hall of Enid and Rosa Ingham of Hunter: one brother, Tim Reid of Hunter; two Grandchildren; and four great-grand-children. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter and four brothers. The Rev. Gary Janzen will officiate. Burial will follow in South Mennonite Brethren Cemetery. Arrangements are by Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. She was born Nov. 3, 1929, in Fairview to A.W. and Eva Just Epp and died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001, in Enid. She graduated from Fairview High School and attended Tabor College at Hillsboro, Kan., later graduating from San Jose State University. She married Wilbur Reimer Aplil 22, 1949, in Hillsboro. They moved to San Jose, Calif. in 1959, where she taught school until 1981. They moved to Enid in 1989. She was a member of the Fairview Mennonite Brethren Church. Surviving are her husband Wilbur, of the home; two daughters, Karen Ollenburger of Clayton, Calif., and Debbie Wahl of Fairview; two sisters, Norma Jean Eitzen of Hillsboro and Betty Wichert of Fairview; one brother, Joel Epp of Enid; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one sister. She was born Feb. 16, 1911, in Waukomis to I.D. and Grace Baker Frantz and died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001, in Altus. She married Livingston Schneider Sr. in 1937, in Enid. He died Aug. 8, 1978. She worked in the public accountant office until she retired and moved to Altus in 1992. She was a member of Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Surviving are two sons, Dr. Livingston Schneider Jr. of Martinez. Calif. and Roland Schneider of Altus; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Livingston and one grandson. POPE Funeral services for Charles Franklin Pope, age 87, of Enid will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Ladusau-Evans Chapel with Rev. Stephen Hale officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. Charles was born November 4, 1914 near Keil (now Loyal) Oklahoma to Frank Henry and Goldie Lucinda (Gill) Pope and passed away December 12, 2001 in Enid. He graduated from Loyal High School in 1932. He worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps after graduation and then returned to farm. He married Myrtle V. Snowden on May 5, 1939. They lived and farmed in the Loyal Community for many years. Charles was a devoted husband, father and friend. He was active in the Loyal Community serving the church, the school, and working in the community. They later moved to Enid and joined the New Hope United Methodist Church. Charles is survived by one daughter, Darla D. Selby and husband Lee, of Goltry, OK; two sons, Terry L. Pope and wife Betty, of Bethany, OK. and Gregory G. Pope, of Enid, OK.; two sisters, Lena Wehrenberg of Loyal and Evelyn Stiger of Oklahoma City: five grandchildren, Leanne (Selby) Girkin and husband Bruce, of Yukon, OK, Elgin Selby of Goltry, OK, Curtis Selby and wife Susan of Broken Arrow, OK, Kelsey Pope of Bethany, OK, and Kendal Pope, of Dallas, TX; two great-grandchildren, Clinton Girkin and Timothy Girkin of Yukon, OK. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 61 years, five brothers, Walter, Ernest, Arthur, Elmer, and Lewis, one sister Opal (Pope) Snowden and three infant siblings. "Blackie" Hood, 86, will be 11 :00 a.m. Friday in the Garden Chapel of Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. John Jamison will officiate. Blackie was born Oct. 9, 1915 in Sweetwater, TX to Claude E. and na Esta Hill Hood and passed away Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001 at Highland Park Manor. He attended grade school in Texas, graduated high school in Oklahoma and attended Oklahoma A&M College at Stillwater. On November 10, 1943 he married Judy Hale in West Memphis, Ark. Blackie served during WW II with the 9th Armored Infantry Division is France and Germany. He came to Oklahoma in 1950 with Chemical Process Co., working in the oil field. He worked for Cummins Construction Co. then operated a ranch at Mulhall for Roy Pratt. In 1975 he opened The Cobbler Shop retiring in 1988 due to ill health. He is survived by his wife, Judy, of the home; one son, Button and his wife Debbie of Enid; two grandchildren, Troy Hood of Kansas City, KS, Jamie Hood of Houston, TX; one great-granddaughter, Kayli Hood of Kansas City, MO; one sister and two brothers. Mr. Hood was preceded in death by one sister. Memorials may be made through Henninger-Allen Funeral Home to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, Alzheimers Division.
