Service pending with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DIANA S. HIGGINBOTHAM ALVA - Wake for Diana S. Higginbotham, 56, will be at 7 p.m. today in the home of George and Sandy Foote. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Christian Church. Dr. Larry Haney will officiate. Burial will be in Union Center Cemetery. Arrangements are by Marshall Funeral Home. The casket will remain closed at the church. She was born July 2, 1945, in Hardtner, Kan., to Ray "Doc" and Doris Doctor, and died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001, at St. Anthony's Hospital, Oklahoma City. She graduated from Alva High School in 1963 and earned a bachelor's degree in business from Northwestern Oklahoma State University. In 1968, she married David Bouziden. They lived near Ashland, where they farmed and ranched. She worked as executive secretary to the administrator in Woodward Hospital for 12 years. On Aug. 1, 1992, she married Joe Higginbotham at Alva. They lived in New York City and Memphis, Tenn., before moving to Oklahoma City in 1995. While in Memphis, she was a full-time Volunteer at St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Surviving are her husband, Joe of Oklahoma City; one son, Rhett Bouziden of Oklahoma City; one daughter, Leslie Bouziden of Ashland, Kan.; her mother, Doris Healan of Alva; one brother, Doug Doctor of Alva; one half-brother, John Noffsinger of Denver; and one grandson. Memorials may be made through the funeral home to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MARTIN G. SCHAEFBAUER Resitation of Rosary for Martin George Schaefbauer, 70, will be 7 p.m. Tuesday in Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church. The Rev. Larry Kowalski will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. He was born Feb. 10, 1931, in McLaughlin, S.D., to George and Mary Nigerter Schaefbauer and died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001, in Houston. He graduated from Conception Seminary at Conception Junction, Mo., then moved to Nevada and worked at Hoover Dam. He returned to South Dakota and married Mary Lou Schneider on Oct. 10, 1956. They moved to Casper, Wyo., where he began his 37-year career with Great Lakes Carbon. After transferring to Enid in 1983, he continued to work, retiring in 1993. He was in the Casper Barber Shop Quartet, a member of the Men's Club at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, Moose Lodge and Enid Gem and Mineral Rock Club. Surviving are his wife, Mary Lou; one daughter, Maria of Oklahoma; three sons, Matt of Oklahoma, Martin of Arizona and Mark; one sister; five brothers, and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter and one son. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BRENDEN A. CAMPBELL SEILING - The funeral for Brenden Andres Campbell, four months old, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Redinger Funeral Home Chapel. David White, pastor, will officiate. A graveside service will be in Brumfield Cemetery. He was born Aug. 13, 2001, at Lemoore Naval Hospital in Lemoore, Calif., and died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001, at Lemoore Naval Hospital as result of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. Surviving are his mother, Tori Leigh Campbell of Lemoore; his stepfather, Luis Rivas of Lemoore; grandparents, Linda and Matt Murry of Custer City, Tony and Ana Campbell of Hennessey; stepgrandparents, Phillip and Sandy Murry of Alva; and great-grandparents, Bob and Dolores Campbell of Seiling and Oma Beard of Alva. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FRANK MESIS HENNESSEY - The funeral for Frank Mesis, 87, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Christian Church. Quinton Gage and the Rev. Randy Burke will officiate. Burial will be in Hennessey Cemetery. Arrangements are by Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home. He was born March 18, 1914, east of Hennessey to Joseph and Antonia Hrachovina Mesis and died Friday, Dec. 14, 2001, at his home in Hennessey. On Oct. 20, 1945, he married Mildred Norris Glyckherr in El Reno. He was a member of First Christian Church where he had served as a deacon. He was a veteran, serving in the 45th Division. Surviving are his wife, Mildred of the home; two sons, John Mesis of Hennessey and Joe Glyckherr of Yukon; five grand-children; and two great-grand-children. He was preceded in death by one son, two brothers and five sisters. (Babe) Cardey Gerhard 79 of Enid will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Davis Park Christian Church with Rev. Alan Seibel and Shorty Unruh officiating. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Alva Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. She was born December 8, 1922, in the Farry Community, Woods County, OK, the daughter of Howard G. and Stella E. James Walker. She moved to Alva at the age of four and attended Longfellow Elementary School, Alva Junior High School and Alva High School through her junior year and graduated from Hardtner High School in Hardtner, KS in 1942. During WWII she worked in the personnel dept. for Douglas Aircraft. She then attended Southwestern State College where she joined the Cadet Nursing Corps until her fiancee, Lester F. Cardey returned from active duty with the U.S. Air Force as a bombardier, completing 50 missions while stationed in Italy. She married Lester F. Cardey April 30, 1945. The couple lived in Alva, OK, Texas, Wyoming and moved back to Alva in 1946. Babe worked for the Research Foundation for four years while Lester attended the College of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 1957. They moved to Okeene for a year while Lester practiced and then to Canton where he built his clinic and she worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as an administrative clerk until 1988 when she retired. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1986, moved to Enid in 1988 and married William Alvin Gerhard on December 30, 1992. The couple moved to Golden Oaks Village in 1998. She is survived by her husband of the home; a daughter Karen Cardey-Harris of Pittsburgh, IL.; four step-daughters Betty Howerton, Donna Heffron; Janice Rork and Gloria Gerhard all of Enid, three step-sons Robert Gerhard of Pond Creek, William and Dennis Gerhard both of Enid; two sisters Bernice Bergen of Borger, TX and Sybil Marsh of Wichita, KS; two brothers, Elden Walker of Clearwater, KS and Verden Walker of Los Angeles, CA. Numerous step-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Davis Park with the funeral home serving as custodian. Keith Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Enid Cemetery under the direction of the Henninger-Allen Funeral Home. Katie died Thursday December 13, 2001, in Waco, Texas. She was born July 30, 1912, in Lexington, Oklahoma. The daughter of Roscoe and Maggie Dodson. She graduated from Weatherford High School. Katie had been employed by Blunk Art Studio, Janzen Oldsmobile, Northcutt Chevrolet, and then Midwest Oil retiring when she was 82 years old. She was a member of WMU and ABWA and was business woman of the year. Throughout her life, she an active member of the First Baptist Church where she volunteered and taught Sunday school. She also volunteered at Integris Bass Baptist Medical Center for 30 years. She was preceded in death by her son, JC Hamilton, her parents, Roscoe and Maggie Dodson, two sisters, Hattie Burchfield and Jessie Hitchcock and two brothers, George and Ollie Dodson. She is survived by one sister, Ruby Willis; one brother, JH Dodson; one daughter-in-law, Kay Hamilton; grandchildren, John Hamilton and Elizabeth Kiraly, Bruce and Nashim Hamilton, Kimberly and Chris Ficken, and Brett Hamilton; great grandchildren, Paul, Amir, Shahana, Zachary, and Zane; step grandchildren Steve and Tracy Ropp, Susan and Jeff Button and step great granddaughter, Michelle. Katie was a wonderful blessing to her family and will be greatly missed. She was born March 3, 1937, in Blackwell to Joseph and Loraine Randall and died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001, at her home in Kingfisher. She lived in Kingfisher most of her life and was a dispatcher for LuGreg Trucking and Cimarron Electric for several years. Surviving are five sons, Jim McCormick of Oklahoma City, Joe McCormick of Okarche, Dick Russell and Jack Russell, both of Kingfisher and Gary Russell of the home; one daughter, Trish Walker of Kingfisher; her mother, Loraine Randall of Kingfisher; and two sisters, Colleen McCormic of Oklahoma City and Clara Hayworth of Las Vegas. ATCHINSON A family only graveside ser vice will be observed for Keith Palmer Atchinson, 85. A memorial service will be conducted at a later date. Arrangements are by HenningerAllen Funeral Home. He was born July 4, 1916, in Bucklin, Kan., and died Sunday, Dec. 16,2001. He moved with family to Enid in 1920 and completed high school. He then attended Phillips University and the University of Oklahoma, majoring in geology. He was an independent landman until retirement. Surviving are his wife, Caroline; three sons, Ted of Kansas City, MO., Court of Enid and Kerry of Wichita, KS.; one brother, Don; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
