Rev. Larry Kowalski will officiate, Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery under direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. He was born February 10, 1931 in McLaughlin, South Dakota to George and Mary Ningerter Schaefbauer and died Saturday, December 15, 2001 in Houston, Texas. Martin was a graduate of the Conception Seminary in Conception Junction, Missouri and moved to Nevada where he helped build Hoover Dam. He returned to South Dakota to wed Mary Lou Schneider on October 10, 1956. The couple just renewed their wed ding vows this year while celebrating 45 years of wedded bliss. After their marriage, Martin and Mary Lou moved to Casper, Wyoming where they started their family and he began his 37-year career with Great Lakes Carbon. After transferring to Enid in 1983, he worked until his retirement in 1993. Martin had many passions and interests. One that stands above all was his devotion to God and his family. He believed in doing the best at everything he ever started and took a great amount of pride in completing every project with perfection, at work and at home. Family camping, hunting and fishing were a few of the Wyoming hobbies he did with his family, but Martin's rocks were his life long hobby. He would go on rock hunting excursions and return with something in the rough, then spend hours with his unique often self invented equipment to turn out something incredible. He was in the Casper Barber Shop Quartette, a member of the Men's Club at St. Gregory, the Moose Lodge, and the Enid Gem and Mineral rock club. Martin was a true patriot and was proud to have had all four of his sons enlisted in the Marine Corps. He was a sincere friend to many and his bigger than life presence will be missed by us all.
