HAWS The funeral for Ronald Dale Haws, 70, will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Anderson- Burris Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Stephen Hale will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. He was born June 24, 1931, in Wichita, Kan., to Melvin J. and Alice Mastin Haws and died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2001, at Integris Bass Baptist Health Center. He moved to Grant County at age four months and graduated from Gore Consolidated No. 1 High School, near Wakita, in 1949. He served in the Korean War with the 25th Division 64th Field Artillery Battalion. In 1950, he married Thelma Lynn. He farmed in Medford and Wakita until 1975, then moved to Enid. In November 1976, he married Mary Lu Eberhart. He worked various jobs, retiring from Johnston Grain Co. He was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church and the VFW. Surviving are his wife, Mary Lu of the home; five sons, Kenny of Mannford, Mike of Carrier, Roger of Raytown, Mo., Phil of Enid and Doug of Ringwood; two stepdaughters, Cindy Bowen of Mount Vernon, Wash., and Diana Hahl of Enid; one brother, Hugh of Hernando, Miss.; 17 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. LOWREY WOODWARD -- The funeral for Harold George Lowrey, 71, will be 2 p.m. Saturday in the First Presbyterian Church. Angus MacDonald, pastor, will officiate. Private graveside service will be earlier in Elmwood Cemetery. Arrangements are by Billings Funeral Home. He was born Feb. 2, 1930, in Woodward to George S. and Lucille McCormick Lowrey and died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2001, in Woodward Regional Hospital. He graduated as valedictorian of his high school class, was an Eagle Scout and earned a bachelor of arts, master's of education and juris doctorate degrees, all from the University of Oklahoma. He was president of Phi Sigma Kappa Fraternity, named to Phi Eta Sigma and Phi Beta Kappa honorary societies, chosen editor in chief of Oklahoma Law Review and named to Order of the Coif. On Aug. 23, 1953, he married Virginia Joy Hoffman. He practiced law in Woodward from 1956 to the present, and was an active member and past president of Woodward County Bar Association. He was a Fellow of the American College of Trusts and Estates Counsel, a former Woodward city attorney and a former commissioner for the State of Oklahoma on the National Commission on Uniform State Laws. He was active in the First Presbyterian Church and taught Sunday school class. Lowrey was named Citizen of the Year in 1997 along with his wife. He was co- founder of Woodward United Fund, the Plains Indians and Pioneers Historical Foundation, the Woodward Arts Council and the Woodward Arts Theatre. He had served as president of Woodward Chamber of - Commerce, Lions Club, WHS Alumni Association and was a former director of Woodward Main Street. He served Woodward as a city commissioner for many years. Surviving are his wife, Virginia; two sons, Robert of Sioux Falls, S.D., and George of Tulsa; two daughters, Sarah L. Taylor of Edmond and Jeanne A. Lowrey of Chandler, Ariz.; two sisters, Barbara L. Houston of Stillwater and Bettie Casteel of Woodward; one brother, Deming of Ponca City; and eight grandchildren. She was born Sept. 23, 1922, at Englewood, Kan., to Clyde Harry and Lenora Mary Thompson Butts and died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2001, at Share Medical Center. She attended school at Englewood. On April 7, 1950, she married Don Daryl Denny at Woodward. They lived in Ponca City, Waynoka, Fairview and Wellington, Kan., before moving to Alva in 1996. She was a member of the Methodist Church. Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign War, the So-N-Sews Quilters Club and Chisholm Trailers Camping Club. Surviving are her husband, Don of Alva; one daughter, Mary Ann Crow of Alva; two brothers, Newt Butts of Coldwater, Kan., and Cleo Butts of Stockton, Mo.; four grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchidren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, three brothers, two sisters and one great-grandchild. WILLIAMS HOBBS, N.M. - A graveside service for Benjamin Williams, 71, was held Wednesday in Maple Grove Cemetery at Seminole. He was born Oct. 28, 1930, in Seminole to J.T.J. and Myrtle Williams and died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2001, at the Good Samaritan Village in Hobbs. Surviving are two sisters, Ruby South of Blanchard and Gladys Lovell of Waukomis. She was born Feb. 29, 1960, in Wichita, Kan., to Lemuel Ira and Jesse Ramona Ball Jackson and died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2001, at Woodward Regional Hospital. She attended schools in Vici. She worked for a local answering service, at vo- tech as receptionist and PBX board operator and later at the Bank of Mooreland. When the Woodward branch opened, she worked there. After the bank was purchased by Central National Bank of Enid, she became teller, receptionist and managed the drive-through bank until illness forced her to leave her job. She participated in Woodward's Relay for Life and the cancer retreat in Hinton. Surviving are one son, Joshua Richey of Woodward; her mother, Ramona Jackson of Woodward; and four brothers, Doug, Rusty and Jeff Jackson, all of Woodward, and Rick Jackson of Panama. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- EMMA L. SMITH CHEROKEE - The funeral for Emma Loree Smith, 94, will be 10:30 a.m. Friday in the First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Roland Youngberg and Kim Ellis will officiate. She was born Feb. 9, 1907, in Alfalfa County to Hobson H. and Bessie Stallings Jay and died Monday, Dec. 17, 2001, at Share Medical Center, Alva. She married Jessie Edwards and later J. Warren Smith. She was a business woman, farmer, rancher and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Cherokee. Surviving are one daughter, Alma Jean Edwards Petree of Enid. She was preceded in death by both husbands. She was born Aug. 27, 1901, in Jefferson to Frank C. and Jennie Woods Eggleston and died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2001, at The Living Center. She graduated from Jefferson High School and attended Phillips University. She was a member of Oklahoma X Ray Society and the American Society of Radiology. She spent three years in Palmer, Alaska, as a technician at a Presbyterian mission hospital. After returning to Oklahoma, she worked in a doctor's office and later as secretary at Enid Bible Church until retirement. Surviving are nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ADRYAN THOMAS The funeral for Adryan Thomas, 18-month-old daughter of Adam Thomas and Amy Mullins, will be 3:30 p.m. Friday in Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. She was born June 14, 2000 and died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2001, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center from complications associated with Trisomy 18 Syndrome. Surviving are her parents of the home; and grandparents, Tony Lee Mullins Sr. and Wanda Bishop of Ponca City, Vickie Lynn Smith and Mark Owen Bamburg, Steven Doss, Antoninette Marie Thomas, all of Enid; and great-grandparents, Lou J. Smith, Sharon Burke and Janice L. Cordell, all of Enid. Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the Adryan Thomas Fund. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- JACK LEONARD SELTENREICH Funeral services for Jack Leonard Seltenreich, 71, of Enid will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Ladusau-Evans Chapel with Pastor Steve Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the Ladusau- Evans Funeral Home. He was born January 14, 1930, in Enid, the son of the late John and Mary Larkey Seltenreich and died December 17, 2001 at Integris Bass Baptist Health Center. He attended the Enid Public Schools and graduated from Enid High School in 1948. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was honorably discharged April 29, 1956. He served during the Korean War. He manied Veta L. Drumm April 23, 1954. The couple lived in Oceanside, California and moved to Enid in 1956. Jack worked as a Paint Contractor for approximately 45 years. He worked for Northrop from May 1985 until retiring in May 1995. Jack coached girls and women's softball teams for many years. He is best known for the Enid Roadrunners that won numerous championships. He loved to coach and to watch softball even until his death. He was inducted into the Oklahoma ASA Hall of Fame as a coach in 1992. He was an avid golfer with a handicap as low as 3. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Veta, daughters Kathy Seltenreich Conway, Trisha Seltenreich Lawson and husband Jeff, sons Allen Seltenreich and wife Donna; Greg Seltenreich and wife Judy. Grandchildren, Sean and Matthew Conway, Ryan, Cody, Shane, and Taylor Lawson, Jennifer Seltenriech, Ben, David, Jonathan and Katie Seltenreich, and great grandson Xavier Seltenreich. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, two brothers and two sisters. Jack was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather and will be truly missed. He was born December 9, 1920 in Dupo, Illinois to William Glen and Iola "Ida" Standerfer and died Tuesday evening, December 18, 2001 in the Enid Senior Care. Bill moved at an early age to Eric. '- . Oklahoma where he a .t ten d e d school until his senior year when he joined the United States Army Air Corp in 1938. He served with the 745th Bombardment Squadron for 5 years 8 months with his rank Tech Sgt. a[ the time of his discharge. On August, 27, 1942, he married Violet Marguerite Muilenburg. She preceded him in death on December 28, 1994 in Enid. To this marriage were born two children. On November 6, 1998 he married Mary Jane Meyer. To his family he was known as Russell, but to the people he served in the mid-fifties as a police officer with the city of Enid he was known as Bill. After his years on the police force, Bill owned and operated the Skelly Oil Service Station. He later became representative for Continental Battery Company. known as "B&B Battery" which he operated until the time of his death. Bill was a avid square dancer with the "Shirts and Skirts" Square Dance Club. He was the president of the N.W. Square Dance District from 1982 to 1983. He served, supported and promoted square dancing. He was also a member of the Bethany United Methodist Church and the Board of Trustee's with the church. He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane of the home, his daughter and son-in-law, Carole and Bob Smith of Littleton, CO., one sister and brother-in-law, Rosalee and Lee Vineyard of Edmond, one brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Georgia Standerfer of Peoria, Arizona, a step-son and daughter-in-law, Don and Karen Whittenberg of Ft. Worth, Texas, and a step daughter and son-inlaw, Dean and Bruce Rogers of Enid. Bill was preceded in death by his first wife and a daughter, Judy.
