Her parents, Felix and Eve Greer raised her and her 4 brothers and 3 sisters on a farm and in addition to attending school, Maggie planted, hoed and picked cotton, fed chickens and milked cows. After she graduated from high school, she and her sister, Ionia, went to Shreveport and enrolled in the hospital's nursing program. While there, Maggie met and married Jack Adams. In 1942, the couple with their two daughters, moved to Klamath Falls, Oregon. Maggie enjoyed caring for her children, teaching Sunday school, gardening, crocheting and sewing. She was a member of the Women of the Moose. To help supplement the family income, Maggie worked as a waitress at the local diner in Kirby. A couple years later, she became the assistant librarian at Josephine Co. Library in Cave Junction, Oregon. When the family moved to Bakersfield, CA, Maggie went to work for JC Penney and became the head of the women's department. In 1964, Jack and Maggie moved to Dallas, TX and for the next 28 years, Maggie was the manager of a large apartment complex. They retired in Enid, OK, to be near their daughter. After her husband's death, Maggie returned to California and spent her remaining years at Carrington of Shafter where she was cared for by a great staff.
