All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== ENID NEWS & EAGLE 22 Feb 2002 LELA BELLE BECKWITH A graveside service for Lela Belle Beckwith, 97, of Lahoma, will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, nine miles west and two miles south of Aline. The Rev. Velmer Goebel will officiate. Arrangements are by Henninger-Allen Funeral Home. She was born Nov. 3, 1904, southwest of Lahoma to Thomas F. and Etta Huffman Hollingsworth and died Thursday Feb. 21, 2002, in Enid. She grew up in Lahoma and married Jake Leon Mathews. They lived in Hammon, where she worked at the Hammon Dry Goods and Variety Store. He died in 1948. She moved to Lahoma, where she was the pos t mistress. She married Bert Kehnemund. They farmed northwest of town. They had a harvest crew with Thomas Hollingsworth, harvesting from Oklahoma to Montana. He died in 1969. She worked at JC Penney in Enid and later at Nehring’s Diner in Lahoma. She was a longtime member of the Home Demonstration Club in Lahoma. She later married William M. Beckwith. They farmed and ran cattle. He died in 1987. Surviving are one daughter, Helen Bowers of Lahoma; three step-children; three sisters, Leona Decker, Rae Pierce, and Elnora “Sis” Galusha, all of Enid; four grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
