BRADT (PHOTO) FREEDOM ---The funeral for Loyd L. Bradt, 72, will be 2 p.m. today in the Freedom School Auditorium. The Rev. Mark Kinkle will officiate. Burial will follow in Freedom Cemetery. Arrangements are by Wharton Funeral Chapel, Alva. He was born July 12, 1929, near Freedom to Cuba Louise Inman and Everet LeRoy Bradt and died Monday, Feb. 18, 2002, in Oklahoma City University Hospital. He attended Plainview Rural Grade School and Freedom High School. He married Leona Sample, Aug. 15, 1949, at Perryton, Texas. They made their home in Freedom where he worked for the Farmers Co-op service station. They moved to the Selman area in December 1952, where he farmed and ranched. They operated the Cattleman’s Café, then the Bradt Service Station, and then went back to farming and ranching. He retired from Woods County Soil Conservation Service. He was a volunteer fireman for more than 20 years and worked the catch pens and set up the barrels for the Freedom Rodeo for more than 40 years. Surviving are his wife, LeOna of the home; two daughters, LeVeta Diacon and LuDella Fells, all of Alva; two sons, LeRoy of Buffalo, and LesLee of Alva; a brother, Russell of Woodward; nine grandchildren; and three great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson.
