All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Cremated-Allen FH--Modesto CA Collier, Morris MORRIS COLLIER OCT 28, 1918 - AUG 2, 2006 Morris Collier, 87, passed away August 2, 2006. He had been a resident of Delhi, CA. Mr. Morris Collier was born and raised in Enid, OK. He joined the Army with the last mounted calvary when he was 16 years old. He was injured when his horse broke his knee and was given a medical discharge. He was married to his wife Emma Lou Lassell on June 4, 1945. In 1957, they moved to Delhi where they grew almonds, for 45 years. He also contracted seasonal workers for picking cherries and he owned Collier Electric in Delhi. He was a member of the Almond Growers and Blue Diamond Almond Association. He played trombone for Tommy Dorsey, he was an undefeated boxer with 42 TKOs. Morris was of Scottish, Dutch and American Indian descent. He was an avid outdoorsman, sports fan and he loved his sweet Yorkshire Terriers. He is survived by his wife, Emma Lou Collier of Delhi; sons, Don Collier of Aberdeen, WA, John Collier of Oregon and Lee Collier of Delhi; sister, Frances Collier of Oklahoma; granddaughters: Gayle Smith, Kelly Collier, Cassia Collier~Demarco, Stephanie Jones~Haggerty, Kerry Collier, Golda Collier and Cora Collier; grandsons: J.A. Collier, Marcus Collier, Donny Collier; and ten great grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 6:00 pm on Monday, August 7, 2006 at Allen Mortuary. Memorial service at 6:00 pm, Monday at Allen Mortuary. There will be a private inurnment. Family and all friends are invited to attend all services and pot luck dinner following, at the family ranch. Memorials may be made to Turlock VFW Post 5059, 1405 E. Linwood Ave., Turlock, CA 95380.
