All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== ENID NEWS & EAGLE 25 Feb 2002 HESTER CANTRELL CANTON ­ The funeral for Hester “Hap’ Haigler Cantrell, 90, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Canton United Methodist Church. Robert Barr will officiate. Burial will be in Canton Cemetery. Arrangements are by Haigler Funeral Home. She was born Feb. 16, 1912, near Carlton to Walter J. and Hattie M. Jeffrie Haigler and died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002, at Little Bird Nursing Home at Weatherford. She graduated from Canton High School 8n 1929 and attended Oklahoma A&M College, now Oklahoma State University. She obtained a teaching certificate and taught at Liberty, Canton, Vici and Eagle City. She moved to Fort Collins, Colo., and worked in a doctor’s office for several years. She then attended school in St. Louis, where she trained to become a lab technician. She served her internship at Laird Memorial Hospital in Kilgore, Texas, and continued working there until retirement. She married Charles Cantrell in 1952, They lived in Kilgore. She was an active member of St. Luke’s united Methodist Church at Kilgore and played piano for a Sunday school class. She played both the piano and organ and was a member of Canton Chapter of the Order of the Easter Star. Surviving are one stepson, Charles Cantrell Jr. of Macon, Ga; and four stepgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and two brothers.
