Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Westminster Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Jeff Conway officiating. Entombment will be in Llano Cemetery Mausoleum by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Dugger was born Aug. 26, 1922. She was an Amarillo resident the majority of her life. She attended Wolflin Elementary, Elizabeth Nixon Jr. High and graduated from Amarillo High School in 1939. She attended Amarillo Junior College and graduated from Baylor University in 1944 with a music education degree. Later, she earned her master of education degree from West Texas University. She taught school at Glenwood Elementary, then moved to Enid, Okla., with her husband. She married C.C. "Bus" Dugger in March 1945. They met when Bus was sent to Glenwood School to speak with them about Kids, Inc. His job moved them to Lubbock and then back to Amarillo. Back in Amarillo, she taught at Humphrey's Highland and Forest Hill. She taught in Enid and Shallowater while they lived there, but most of her tenure was in Forest Hill. She taught both private piano lessons and public school music. During many of her years at Forest Hill, she served as first vice president of the PTA and directed the school's programs and activities. Before she retired in 1982, she taught not only music, but fifth and sixth grade social studies. She and her husband spent much of their vacation time traveling in the United States and overseas. They took many slides and pictures during their travels and were able to share these with the children they taught, making "book information" more meaningful. Freda enjoyed teaching enough to talk her husband into getting his degree and teaching for 26 years. He retired as principal from Cal Farley's Boys Ranch. Since that time they have continued to travel. They spent the winters in the Rio Grande Valley, but were back in Amarillo most of the summers. Survivors include her husband; a niece; and two nephews. The family suggests memorials be to Kids, Inc., 2201 E. 27th Ave., Amarillo, TX 79103; or Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2525 Wimberly St., Amarillo, TX 79109.
