Betty was born Aug. 26, 1936, in Enid, Okla., to Jack and Ruby Allen. She died Dec. 5, 2006, in Eugene. She had many hobbies, including hunting, fishing and traveling, and she enjoyed meeting new people. Betty also enjoyed antique automobiles, and belonged to the Vintage Haulers Car Club and the Myrtlewood Model A's. She was famous for her homemade clam chowder. Betty worked in Gold Beach for approximately 15 years for Ted's Corner Drug. She is survived by her companion, Fred Burkhardt of Coquille; sons, Bill Christensen and wife, Stacey, and Hoss Christensen and wife, Chris, all of Coquille; daughter, Brenda Metcalf and husband, Jess, of Rock Springs, Wyo.; six grandchildren; and eight great- grandchildren. The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, Coos County Unit, 31 W. Sixth St., Medford, OR 97501.
