Danny Marney, pastor, will officiate. He was born Jan. 4, 1915, in Enid to Howard A. and Edna Garis Earhart, and died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002, at Integris Bass Baptist Health Center. He grew up and went to school in Enid. He enlisted in the Army during World War II, during which he was involved in five major battles. In November of 1944 he married Laverne Kelso. She preceded him in death in 1995. After his military service, he moved back to Enid, where he worked for Sturdevant Sheet Metal Service. He then worked at Woodring Airport, where he was a pilot instructor after receiving his pilot's license in 1967. Surviving are two sisters, Betty Emick of Enid and Ruth May of Cypress, Texas. He was preceded in death by his wife, an infant child, and eight brothers and sisters. Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, hospice or the charity of the donor's choice. She was a homemaker. Surviving are two daughters, Etta Ray and Mary Jones, both of Medford; one sister, Mary Sebranek of Garber; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was born July 17, 1933, in Woodward to Roy B. and Pearl Nelson and died Friday Feb. 1, 2002, at her home in Nowata. She graduated from Woodward High School in 1951. In 1952, she married Bruce Campbell in Woodward. After four years at Weatherford, they moved to Nowata. Surviving are her husband, Bruce of the home; two sons, Roy and Scott, both of Nowata; two sisters, Norma Rhoads of Woodward and Janet Greet of Wichita, Kan.; three brothers, Butch Nelson and Denny Nelson, both of Woodward, and Mike Nelson of Dallas; and three grandsons. ----- Jennifer Pettey FORT SUPPLY -- The funeral for Jennifer Dyanne Pettey, 26, will be 10 a.m. Monday in bible Baptist Church at Woodward. She was born Sept. 29, 1975, in Shattuck to Douglas and Mary Devine Herring and died Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, at Baptist Medical Center, Oklahoma City. She grew up in Vici. On May 23, 1991, she married Michael Pettey at Vici. They lived in Fort Supply, where she worked for Steuart's Country Store for six years. She had worked as activity director at Grace Living Center and was a caregiver. Surviving are her husband, Michael of the home; her parents, Doug and Sarah Herring of Mutual and Paul and Mary Auslam of Springdale, Ark.; two sisters, Krystan Herring of Waynesville, Mo., and Amy Hayes of Elkhart, Kan.; her grandmothers, Josephine Herring of Mutual, June Devine of Woodward and Nancy Cutsinger of Vici; and two step-sisters, Shawnda Hall of Midwest City and Dennise Kimble of Mutual. She was preceded in death by one brother. Memorials may be made to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation. ---- Andy R. Johnston WAYNOKA -- A memorial service for Andy R. Johnston, 85, was 2 p.m. Saturday in Waynoka First Christian Church. The Rev. Aaron Nutter officiated. Arrangements were by Marshall Funeral Home. He was born July 28, 1916, in Woods County to Ira and Ruby Duncan Johnston and died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002, at St. Mary's Regional Hospital, Enid. He lived most of his life in the Waynoka area, where he farmed and ranched. On Nov. 28, 1934, he married Grace Eileen Bunting at Cherokee. Surviving are one son, Elbert of Mooreland; one daughter, Starlene Rauh of Mooreland; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one step-great-granddaughter; and five great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife. --- Jerri Lynn Grant ALVA -- The funeral for Jeri Lynn Grant, 42, was 10 a.m. Saturday in Marshall Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Kevin Choate officiated. Burial was in Hardtner Cemetery. She was born May 10, 1959, in Alva to Gussie Roots McLemore and Clifton Roots and died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002, at her home in Castle Rock, Colo., after an illness. She graduated from Alva High School in 1977 and from Enid Beauty School. She later opened a beauty salon, Shear Expression, in Alva. On March 14, 1986, she married David Klossner. She moved to Tupperlake, N.Y., and owned and operated a salon and gym. She began body building and power lifting and set the New York state record in the squat competition. On Jan. 7, 2000, she married John Grant. Surviving are her husband, John of Castle Rock; three children, Micah, Logan and Dakota Klossner, all of Castle Rock; her mother, Gussie McLemore of Alva; three sisters, Bonita Stewart of Freedom, Janet Wanger of Alva and Deby Coon of Enid; and two Stepbrothers, Dave McLemore of Wilmington, N.C., and Fred McLemore of Billings. Memorials may be made through the funeral home to an education fund for her children. --- Ruby Blanche Simon POND CREEK -- The funeral for Ruby Blanche Simon, 92, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. The Revs. Bobby Smith and Lester McKeeman will officiate. Burial will be in Pond Creek Cemetery. She was born April 5, 1909, east of Jefferson to Carl and Mamie White Conway and died Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, at Integris Bass Baptist Health Center, Enid. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1928. On Oct. 10, 1936, she married Leslie Simon. They lived in Jefferson for four years, then moved to a farm northwest of Jefferson. On March 9, 1951, they moved to Wichita, Kan. She worked for Beechcraft, retiring in 1971. The couple then moved to Pond Creek. She attended the First Baptist Church and was a member of Sunshine Center, San Souci Club and Rebecca Lodge No. 108. Surviving are eight nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband and two brothers. She was born Jan. 24, 1938, in Covington to Harrison Christopher and Icel Fowler Dhabalt and died on Thursday Jan. 31, 2002, in Enid. She graduated from Covington High School. On Dec. 29, 1958, she married O.D. Booher in Enid, where they made their home. She was a member of Arkoma Extension Home Economic Club and a longtime volunteer at St. Mary's Hospital. She was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother. She is survived by her husband, O.D. of the home; three daughters, Revis Louise Ritchie, Radona Layne Booher and Radell Lynne Stone, all of Enid; one stepsister, Jan Evans of Oklahoma City; three grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. --- Dorothy Dusbabek OKLAHOMA CITY -- The funeral for Dorothy Augusta Dusbabek, 91, was Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002, at Guardian West Funeral Home. She was born April 28, 1910, in Okeene to E. J. and Cora Westfall and died Wednesday Jan. 30, 2002. She worked as a PBX operator and was a member of First Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, George. Surviving are one son, Carol Seeberger of Oklahoma City; one daughter, Doris Hicks of Tulsa; one sister, Edwardine Bullard of Enid; one granddaughter; and two great-grandchildren. --- Helen Marjory Jordan The funeral for Helen Marjory Jordan, 91, will be 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Francis Episcopal Chapel, Russell Springs, Kan. The Rev. Don Martin will officiate. Burial will follow in Russell Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Kennedy-Koster Funeral Home, Oakley, Kan. She was born Oct. 11, 1910, near Russell Springs, Kan., to James and Frances Bensen Wright and died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002, in Lawton. She was a lifetime resident of Russell Springs and a homemaker. She also was a country school teacher and a member of the Russell Springs school board. She married Harold Jordan April 22, 1931, at Russell Springs. Surviving are one son, Frank Jordan of Russell Springs; three daughters, Joyce Escudero of Cheyenne Wells, Colo., Marian Suter of Enid, and Marjory Bailey of Lawton; 12 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, one daughter, a son, and three brothers. She was born July 19, 1925, in Aline to James R. and Lora Hendrix Beckwith and died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002, at Share Medical Center, Alva. She attended school at Aline. In 1947, she moved to Cherokee. She was a baby-sitter and a member of Jet Church of the Nazarene. Surviving are her sister, Juanita Tyrrell of Cherokee. She was preceded in death by two sisters. Memorials may be made to help with the funeral expenses to Goodwin Funeral Home, 106 West 2nd Street, Cherokee, OK 73728. -- Orval Smith Mooreland -- The funeral for Orval Smith, 84, will be 2 p.m. Monday at Mooreland First Baptist Church. The Rev. David Hamilton will officiate. Burial will follow in Mooreland Cemetery. Arrangements are by Billings Funeral Home. He was born Sept. 21, 1917, on a farm seven miles north of Mooreland to Jesse F. and Verna K. Peaney Smith and died Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, in Woodward Regional Hospital. He attended school in Mooreland, graduating in 1935. He worked for two years at a cannery in Los Angeles and San Bernadino, Calif., and returned to Mooreland in 1938, where he worked for his father on the farm. He married Velda F. Swigart June 19, 1938, in Woodward. They made their home in Moore for the first eight months. They moved to Prosser, Wash., in February 1939, where he worked on farms. They returned to Mooreland in august 1941, and he worked at a dairy. He later worked for Farmers Cooperative Trading Co. He managed C. E. Sharp Lumber Co. for 6 years. He owned and operated Smitty's Sundries. He managed a Conoco service station and was a mechanic for Williams Chevrolet, as well as a volunteer fireman. They moved to Guymon in 1951, where he worked for Michigan-Wisconsin. After six months, they returned to Mooreland. In March, 1953, he went to work for Cities Service Gas Co., working in Kansas, Texas and Oklahoma. He retired April 1, 1980, from Mooreland Station, after 27 years of service. Surviving are two sons, Terry Gene Smith of Hooker, and Jackie Dean Smith of Mooreland; one sister, Dorothy Dowden of Mooreland; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Velda, in 1992, one son, one brother and one sister. Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Mooreland First Baptist Church. --- Lee Enix HENNESSEY -- The funeral for Lee Enix, 81, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Christian Church. The Rev. Randy Burke will officiate. Burial will follow in Hennessey Cemetery. Arrangements are by Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home. He was born Sept. 3, 1920, to C. V. and Bertha Lee Richards Enix and died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002, in Hennessey. He was a 1937 graduate of Hennessey High School and valedictorian of his class. He married Millie Alice Redenbo June 14, 1941, in Kansas. He was the first member of First Christian Church, a 32nd Degree Mason at Coronado Lodge No. 56, a member of Flying Farmers, past commander of American Legion, a Cub Scout master and a Sunday school teacher for Boy Scouts. He was a custom farmer and had been manager at Producer's Coop and past chairman of Kingfisher County Democratic Party. He retired from the U.S. Post Office following 21 years of service. Surviving are his wife, Millie of the home; two sons, Richard Enix of Moore, and Earl Enix of Centennial, Colo.; two brothers, Ralph Enix of Kingfisher and Homer Enix of Midwest City; four grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Arrangements are by Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. She was born June 9, 1909, in Enid to John and Edit y Coulter Burchfield and died Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, in St. Mary's Regional Medical Center. She was raised in Enid, graduating from Enid High School. She married Ralph Kreie in 1934. He died Aug. 3, 1993. She was a homemaker and an active member of Bethany United Methodist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Sandra Southwick of Enid; two sons, Dennis Kreie of Duncan and Kirby Kreie of Enid; one sister, Vina Russum of Enid; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters and one great-grandson . Memorials may be made to the church with the funeral home acting as custodian of the funds. --- Barbara Byrn WOODWARD -- The graveside service for Barbara Byrn, 76, will be 2:30 p.m. Monday in Elmwood Cemetery. The Rev. Tony Barros will officiate. Arrangements are by Good Samaritan Funeral Service. She was born March 26, 1925, in Wilsey, Kan., to Clyde E. and Hattie A. Berry Carter and died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002, at her home. She grew up in Wilsey and graduated from Wilsey High School in 1943. She married Oscar Leroy Byrn Dec. 9, 1945, at Wichita, Kan. They followed work in the oil fields for several years and lived all over the western and central United States. In 1967, they made their home in Woodward, where she worked at Von Dean's Nursing Home and later at Woodward Hospital. She was a member of Christian Church in Wilsey. Surviving are her husband, Leroy of the home; two daughters; Nancy Daugherty of Woodward and Diane McMoran of Coldwater, Kan.; two sons, Max and Jack Byrn, both of Woodward; a sister, Maxine Hankins of Seattle; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant grandson. Surviving are three daughters, Susie Plunkett of DePaw, Ind., Jennie Wright of New Salisbury, Ind., and Vickie Engleman of Corydon, Ind.; three sons, Bill, Bob and Jerome Mott, all of DePaw; one brother, Junior Lee; 16 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two children. --- Maranda C. Driskell HENNESSEY -- The funeral for Maranda C. Driskell, 88, will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church. She was born Dec. 19, 1913, in Austin Valley, near Buffalo, to Ashel Hayden and Mary Ellen Austin Wills and died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002, at her home. She married Clifford Driskell May 22, 1938, in Hennessey. They lived in Hennessey, where she worked as a beautician until retirement. She was a member of First Baptist Church. Surviving are one son, Clifton of Oklahoma City; one daughter, Lynn Clark of Tulsa; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford, Aug. 23, 1997, one sister and four brothers. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church with the funeral home acting as custodian of the funds. --- Tom E. Kraus MEDFORD -- The funeral for Tom E. Kraus, 82, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Bethel Hawley Baptist Church, north of Nash. The REvs. Gary Lillie and Lester McKeeman will officiate. Burial will be in Hawley Cemetery. He was born Dec. 14, 1919, west of Jefferson to Roy Hamilton and Elnora Belle Haws Kraus and died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002, at Community Health Center in Wakita. He attended grade school at Riverdale and high school in Jefferson, graduating in 1938. He was a farmer-rancher. On Dec. 22, 1959, he married Lois Fletcher in Nevada, Mo. He was a member of Riverdale Grange for more than 50 years and was part owner of Alfalfa county Feeders at Cherokee. Surviving are his wife, Lois of the home; three sons, Tom Jr. of Pond Creed, Jerry of Guam and Randy of Wakita; one daughter, Cindy Smith of Medford; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers. Wildman Aug. 19, 1949, at Cheyenne, Wyo. They made their home northeast of Chester. She worked several years at Ranger Motel and Seiling Lumber. She was a member of First Christian Church in Seiling. Following their retirement, they moved to Hennessey. Surviving are her husband, Donald of the home in Hennessey, and four sons, Charles of Renton, Wash., Neal and Tony, both of Hennessey and Steve of Chelyabinsk, Russia. She was preceded in death by two brothers. He was born July 30, 1928, in Hillsdale to Winford and Hazel Faye Thomas Bundy and died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002, at Integris Bass Baptist Pavilion. He graduated from Hillsdale High School. On May 17, 1947, he married Mamie Rose Wayman in Enid. He worked for Pillsbury, Texas-Oklahoma Express and 22 years at Enid Fire Department. Surviving are four sons, Darrell, Floyd, Calvin and Leslie, all of Enid; one daughter, Debra Toone of Enid; one brother, William of Weatherford, Texas; two sisters, Ruth Harwood of Corvallis, Ore., and Rosalee Flager of Hallett; 13 grandchildren; and three great- grandchildren. Hart ARNETT -- A graveside service for William Albert "A. B." Hart, 81, will be 2 p.m. today in Laverne Memorial Cemetery. The Rev. Wes Peterman will officiate. Arrangements are by Myatt-Seeger Funeral Home. He was born Nov. 18, 1920, at Chaney to William Francis and Sarah Elsie Hadley Hart and died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002, at his home in Arnett. He graduated from Laverne High School in 1941. On April 24, 1951, he married Lois Morris at Woodward. She died in 1983. On Nov. 3, 1985, he married Bernice Sessions in Clayton, N.M. From 1942 to 1943, he served with the Army. He was a transport truck driver, retiring in 1969, and was a member of First Baptist Church in Arnett and American Legion Post No. 313. Surviving are his wife, Bernice of Arnett; two stepdaughters, Dr. Sharon Barber of Temple, TExas, and Sandra Mathews of Corinth, Texas; one sister, Donna Helmuth of Perryton, Texas; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was born Oct. 29, 1910, at Reason to Nova and Mary Scharnhorst Molloy and died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002, at Newman Memorial Hospital in Shattuck. She attended Sheldon Country School near Gage. On Feb. 14, 1928, she married Anson "Hap" Havlik at Shattuck where they made their home. She worked for Walter Miller as a clerk at Miller's Variety Store. Since 1998, she had lived at Shattuck Nursing Center. She was an active member of Shattuck First Baptist Church, taught Sunday school classes and Vacation Bible School. Surviving are one daughter, Darlene Lewis of Reno, Nev.; three grandson; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1985; three sisters and two brothers. --- Inez W. Judd CHEROKEE -- The funeral for Inez W. Judd, 80, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Cherokee First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Faye Good will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, south of Cherokee. Arrangements are by Fisher Funeral Home. Visitation is from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. She was born Dec. 1, 1921, in Marshall to Harry and Gladys Ebbs Pryor and died Friday Feb., 2002, at Integris Bass Baptist Hospital, Oklahoma City. On April 2, 1948, she married Henry Judd at Wichita Falls, Texas. She was a longtime resident of the Cherokee area and was cafeteria manager for Cherokee school system. She was a member of Prairie Valley Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star at Cherokee and at Alva. Surviving are one son, Troy of Oklahoma City; one daughter, Deborah McClain of Visalia, Calif.; and four grandchildren. She was p receded in death by her husband on May , 1993, four brothers and one sister. He was born June 23, 1912, northeast of Freedom to Samuel Wesley and Kathern Misouri Rader and died Friday, Feb. 2, 2002, at Share Medical Center in Alva. He moved with family to Ashley. His mother died when he was nine an nd he took turns living with his brothers and sisters. He graduated from Ingersoll High School in 1931. He worked as a farmer for five years, then went to kansas City, Mo., where he worked at Walnut Lumber and Gunstock Saw Mill. In 1939, he was transferred to Saint Joseph, Mo. On March 3, 1940, he married Anna MMae Ruark. During the war they lived in Kansas City, Mo., whre he worked in defense plants. He worked 25 years as a machine repairman, nine years for Westinghouse Corp. and 16 years for Bendix Corp., retiring on June 30, 1977. They moved to Alva on Oct. 22, 1977. Surviving are his wife, Ann of Alva; two sons, Sam of Poulsbo, Wash., and Bill of Kansas City; two daughters, Linda Hickey of Virginia Beach, Va., and Becky Castro of Cincinnati; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. They lived east of Waynoka. She moved into town in 1976. She was a member of Elm and Murrow Church of Christ. Surviving are two sons, James of Waynoka and John of Enid; one daughter, Jeroldine Sue Barnett of Leander, Texas; two sisters, Goldie Bay of Clovis, N.M. and Verda Lee Haltom of Vinita; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband on Sept. 5, 1966, one daughter, two brothers and two sisters. Shaklee Maxey and died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002, at Blackwell Regional Hospital. She graduated from Enid High School. On March 22, 1931, she married Kenneth Whitehead in Guthrie. They farmed in Grant County for 47 years before retiring to Breckinridge in 1981. She lived at Burgundy Place in Enid for five years and then at the Medford Nursing Home until her death. She had worked at the Community Health Center in Wakita for five years, and was a member Lamont Christian Church, the Rebekah Lodge at Lamont and Harmony and the Home and Garden Home Demonstration Club. Surviving are two sons, Milo of Medford and Dale of Kansas City, Mo.; two daughters, Betty Prilliman and Sybil Webster, both of Lamont; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband on April 1, 1990; two sisters, two grandsons, and one great-grandson. Hays Horn and died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002, at Monterey Park Nursing Center, Independence, Mo. She moved with her parents to Phroso at the age of 3 weeks. She attended schools in Major County. The family later moved to Fairview and she attended high school there. She attended Alva Normal School and earned a teaching certificate. She taught school for a few years. On Jan. 21, 1928, she married Martin Glen Strecker at Fairview. They lived at Chester. In 1931, they moved to Seiling, where they owned and operated a service station. He died Nov. 24, 1961, and she continued to live in Seiling and worked at the school cafeteria. She was an active member of Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-day Saints. In 1989, she moved to Edmond, then to Atchison, Kan., in 1992 and to Independence in 1997. Surviving are two daughters, Dixie Johnson of Independence and Judy Hoag of Silver Cliff, Colo.; two sons, Al of Edmond and Phil of Independence; one stepson, Lynn Hoskins of Alva; one brothrer, Otis Horn of Nyssa, Ore.; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. He was on the state champion football team and played basketball, baseball and track. He and his brother coached little league basketball at the YMCA. He was an Eagle Scout, and attended two years at Northern Oklahoma College, Tonkawa, and one year at Oklahoma State University, Stillwater. He farmed in Hunter and worked for the Soil Conservation District at Medford. He later moved to Pond Creek and worked for Deterding Aviation. He attended Ministry of Health Church in Enid. Surviving are two children, Karlie and McKena, both of Pond Creek; his parents, Ivan and Rita Peck of Hunter; two brothers, Max and Gary, both of Hunter. She graduated from Eagle City High School in 1926. She taught school at Oak Grove County school. On June 9, 1928, she married John Paul Compton. They farmed in the Watonga area. She taught ceramic classes at Watonga multi-purpose center. Surviving are one son, Omer; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
