Born to Daniel K. and Margaret Keller Gorden on December 18, 1919, he grew up on the family farm near Brownell, Kansas. He was the youngest of 9 children. After his mother passed away when he was 10, he lived with his sister, Edith and her family until high school. He graduated high school In 1937. In 1939 he moved to Drummond, Oklahoma where he worked the harvest and made his home with Charles and Lydia Seba. December 1941 he entered the Army Air Corps where he served for 4 years. He returned to Oklahoma and attended Spartan School of Aeronautics to receive his A and E license. He went to work at Vance Air Force Base in Enid as an aircraft mechanic. In 1950 he met and married Marie Unruh. When his job terminated at Vance, the family moved to Oklahoma City where he got a job at FAA as an aircraft Mechanic from where he retired. He loved his Lord and Savior and loved to teach the word. He taught a Jr. High Sunday School class while in Enid and five of those young people are in the Lord's ministry. He also taught the Senior Citizen Sunday School class at Metropolitan Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents and his 8 brothers and sisters. Chester is survived by his wife, Marie of the home; Daughters and husbands, Janice and Bob Watts, Janette and Kevin O'Brien and Jenny and John Struck; Grandchildren, Jonathan and Adriel Watts, Katie, Sean, Patrick and Margaret O'Brien, Gorden, Aaron, and Rebekah Struck all whom he loved very much. In lieu of flowers the family wishes that contributions be made in care of missions at Faith Bible Church in Edmond. Formal visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at Matthews Funeral Home with services to be held Wednesday at Faith Bible Church. Services are under the direction of the Matthews Funeral Home, Edmond, OK.
