HANKS, ENID PIONEER P.L. Hanks, 74, who was twice a pioneer settler in this state, died Sunday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock at his home following a five-week illness. Born in Adair county, Missouri, Mr. Hanks went to Wichita when the town was small and from there to old Oklahoma in 1889. Later when the Cherokee Strip was opened he made the run from Hennesey and homesteaded a claim near Ringwood where he lived until 1912. Enid since has been his home. Painting pictures was his hobby and one of his pictures hangs in an office at the court house. He married Annie C. Warner on December 8, 1894. Besides his wife he leaves one daughter, Mrs. H.P. Tudor, 1024 East Broadway, four sons, James of San Francisco, Calif., Roy of Tulsa, Earl of Walnut, Kans., Harold of the home, 15 grandchildren, three brothers, Ernest E. of Albuquerque, N.M., Logan L. of Chickasha, Marion of Salt Lake City, UT and two sisters, Mrs. W. P. Looper of Enid and Mrs. Ed Schultz of Houston, Texas. The Henninger funeral home is caring for the body. Day and hour for the funeral, which will be held in the Henninger chapel, will be announced. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery.
