All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Mrs. Annie Hanks Dies in Hospital Enid Daily Eagle Feb. 3, 1945 Mrs. Annie C. Hanks, 520 North Grand, who made the run into the Cherokee Strip on horseback and homesteaded her own claim near Ringwood, died Friday noon at an Enid hospital. Her age was 73. One and one-half years of failing health preceded her death and she had been in a hospital since her condition became serious a month ago. In 1913 she left her farm and established a home in Enid. She was a member of the Methodist Church. Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. H.P. Tudor of Wichita and four sons, James of San Jose, Cailif., Earl E. of Walnut, Kans., Roy R. of Jenks and Harold of Enid. She leaves 15 grandchildren. Arrangements for the funeral are pending at the Henninger funeral home. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery beside her husband, P.L. Hanks, who died four years ago.
