Kennedy, 94, of Chickasha, are pending with Ferguson Funeral Home. Murlene D. Kennedy was born December 27, 1910, in Enid, Oklahoma. She died Sunday, July 17, 2005 in Chickasha. ========== The Chickasha Express-Star Tuesday, 19 July 2005 MURLENE DAVIDSON KENNEDY Funeral service for Murlene Davidson Kennedy, 94, of Chickasha will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 22, 2005 at the Epworth United Methodist Church. Murlene Davidson Kennedy was born December 27, 1910, in Enid, Oklahoma. She died July 17, 2005 in Chickasha. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home. ========== The Chickasha Express-Star Wednesday, 20 July 2005 MURLENE DAVIDSON KENNEDY Funeral services for Murlene Davidson Kennedy, 94, of Chickasha will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 22, 2005 at the Epworth United Methodist Church. Murlene Davidson Kennedy was born December 27, 1910, in Enid, Oklahoma, the daughter of David and Ethel (Whitaker) Davidson. She died July 17, 2005 in Chickasha. Murlene came to Pocasset as a young girl. She attended Pocasset public schools, and graduated from Pocasset High School. Murlene married Neal Kennedy on February 18, 1934. This union brought them four sons. They were married 71 wonderful years. Murlene was a homemaker and had a full time career being a devoted wife, mother, and friend. She and Neal owned and operated a farm for many years and when Neal went into ministry, Murlene assisted Neal throughout his ministry career as well. Murlene had many talents and interests. She enjoyed painting, and taking lessons from the Mushroom Shoppe. In fact, she began painting at age 65. She was also a musician. Murlene was the church pianist at Pocasset United Methodist Church when she and Neal first met. She continued playing the piano at churches where Neal was the minister. She was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church and a member of the United Methodist Women’s Association. Murlene was preceded in death by both parents, and one brother, Gomer Davidson. Survivors include husband L. Neal Kennedy, of the home; four sons and daughters-in-law: Lawrence and Helen Kennedy, of San Angelo, Texas, Carl and Janis Kennedy, of Seneca, South Carolina, Dean and Ilona Kennedy, of Friend, Oklahoma, and Charles and Vivian Kennedy, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; twelve grandchildren; and twenty-four great grandchildren. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
