LYONS A graveside service for John B. Lyons, 70, will be 2 p.m. Monday in Dreamland Cemetery at Canyon, Texas. Dr. Richard Dunn will officiate. Arrangements are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home. He was born March 29, 1931, in Pampa, Texas, to R.W. and Velma Moore Lyons and died Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, at his home in Enid. He attended schools in Pampa, Canyon and Stratford, Texas, before graduating from Kemper Military Academy in 1950. He attended Texas Tech University, Lubbock, Texas, then graduated from West Texas State University at Canyon, Texas, in 1958. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the Army in Korea and Japan. On Sept. 4, 1955, he married Helen Verner, they lived in Pampa for several years before he began work for Diamond Shamrock Corp. He retired in 1987 and moved to Enid. Surviving are his wife, Helen of the home; three sons, John of Enid and Alva, Steven of Edmond and Michael of Portales, N.M.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
