All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== PAT MUNKRES Published on February 11, 1997 The Santa Rosa Press Democrat Pat Munkres, a longtime Marin and Sonoma County businessman, died Friday at his Rohnert Park home. He was 78. He lived 29 years in Nicasio in Marin County and since 1973 in Rohnert Park. He owned and managed a number of rental properties and a chain of laundromats in the two counties. Born in Lahoma, Okla., Munkres was the youngest of 12 children. He brought his family to California in 1941, settling in San Francisco. He worked for Bergman Manufacturing for 21 years. Moving his family to Nicasio in 1951, he was active in 4-H, Nicasio Druids No. 42, and the volunteer fire department before moving to Rohnert Park. His involvement with the Druids included Past Noble Arch of Nicasio Druids; he was a District Deputy of Santa Rosa Druid Grove No. 121; and was a member of the Santa Rosa Druids Circle and the Marin Chapter of Druids. He participated in numerous fund-raising barbecues. Munkres married Margaret DeSa of Los Banos in 1977. They were members of the Top of the Bay Sam's and the Sonoma A's, a Model A club. He spent the past few years restoring an award-winning 1930 Model A. Besides his wife, Munkres is survived by his sons, Phillip Munkres of Sebastopol, and Ted Munkres of Grand Junction, Colo.; stepsons, David DeSa and Raymond DeSa, both of Los Banos; stepdaughters, Diane Souza of Los Banos, and Yvonne Gleek of Boca Raton, Fla.; sister, Clara Simon of Alva, Okla.; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Friends can visit from 8 to 11 a.m. today at the Parent-Sorensen Mortuary in Petaluma. Services will be at 11 a.m. today at the mortuary.
