Lucille grew up in Fairview, OK and graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, OK with a degree in science and economics in the middle of the Great Depression. Her first job was delivering milk. She then went on to teach home economics in rural schools throughout Garfield and Major Counties in her beloved home state of Oklahoma. She ended her 35-year teaching career as a 6th grade elementary teacher in Enid, OK where she and her family made their home for 40 years. She and her late husband, Warren "Happy" Pierce, retired to Thatcher in 1976 where she was active as a hospital volunteer and member of the First Baptist Church of Thatcher. She moved to Tucson in 2002 to be close to her daughter, Mary Elizabeth (Robert) Pollard and her granddaughter, Sarah Stewart. She spent her last years as a member of Saguaro Christian Church, Tucson. She will be remembered as a genteel woman of deep faith who expressed it by how she led her life. She had a terrific sense of humor which saw her through most of the 20th Century and well into the 21st.
