All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona--Phoenix AZ Platteter, Beverly Ruth Jones Beverly Ruth Jones Platteter, 84, died August 5, 2007, in Sun City, AZ from complications of Alzheimer's Disease. She was born May 19, 1923 in Enid, Oklahoma, and moved to Iowa with her family, living in Des Moines, Ames, and Iowa City. She was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority at the University of Iowa, where she graduated with a B.A. degree in 1945. She met her future husband, Kenneth Edward Platteter, while on a trip to Phoenix, AZ. They married in 1947 at Central United Methodist Church and relocated to Iowa City, Iowa, where they lived until 1960. She was a teacher, an accountant, and an executive secretary, among many other talents. She is survived by her husband Kenneth, her two sons, Thomas of Phoenix, and William (Susie) of Houston, TX, two grandchildren, Sarah and Scott, a great grandchild, and a sister, Mary B. Kohl of Portland, Oregon. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lionel Edgar Jones (1895-1968) and Pearl Minnie Looper Jones (1896-1981), and brother Lionel Edwin Jones (1917-1993). A remembrance service was held in her honor August 8, 2007 in Phoenix. She was cremated and her ashes buried at National Memorial VA Cemetery in north Phoenix.
